How much of a bottleneck would a Q8200 place on a 6870?

Cant see the 6870 being held back to much, with my 5870 (nearly an identical card to the 6870) i can play on high with textures and something else on ultra fairly easy, the hold back on the card is vram tbh, i sit at around 930mb used with a minimum fps in the region of 40-45 depending on the map/player count/mode.

I know its not a great comparison as 775 vs 1366 but i could try limiting bf3 to only 2 cores and see how it performs? if it can handle it fine on 2 cores it should be ok with a C2Q as from what ive seen bf3 handles hyper threading pretty well.

EDIT: not to great apparently, 2 cores = eugh 3 = eugh 4 = pretty good 6 = perfectly smooth

Won't be able to find any online through retailers as the 775 boards are end of life. Looked on ebay and can't seem to find any there as well.

seriously you looked on ebay and could fined a socket 775 board? I have 8 p5q duluxes, 4 evga 780i's and 3 evga 680i's in my watch list.

Not to mention the hundred odd pages of other makes and models.

Plus some sites still sell new ones. I know novatech do an asus one for around £40 brand new. but £40 will get you one of the top of the line 775 boards on ebay.

Not many have mention this but i dont know how far you think you can push that cpu? If your aiming for 3,3ghz+ you need proper cooling, My Q6600's ran very hot and i couldnt get them higher then 3,3ghz. Didnt use the best aircoolers out there so thats probably why i didnt get a higher 24/7 oc. If you spend a few bucks on a second hand mb, id say ity is worth it

. Damm funny to try and push it to the max, and if its get ruined you still had fun and learned some.

I'm looking for a p45 board. According to what i've read they are the best. It will have to be micro atx though as my case isn't an atx case.

Guys, what if I sold my q8200 and picked up a better quad say a 9450 or 9550, or do you think it's better for me to buy a new board and a cooler and overclock the 8200?
