How does my GPU compare to whats on the market?

Hello. The title says it all really, I'm looking for someone to explain to me how my card stacks up against what's on the market now.

I very rarely run games, this is more a curiosity thing.

Anyways... The card is a Sapphire 6870 twin fan OC edition. like this

Can anyone help?

3Dmark 11 is the way to compare your card, also you have Heaven Benchmark and Valley Benchmark.

If your into gpu compute then you can use clbenchmark or Luxmark

post back with your results and im sure some members will be along to compare with there cards........

If you are thinking about upgrading, i recommend waiting to the next generation. I'm happy with my 6950 as far as frame rate goes. If you are not a cray fps whore it will do fine until the midrange next gen cards will be out

If you want some numbers i think the 7970 is about 50 to 100 % faster then your card, depending on the game.

Thanks for the reply fellas.

I went over to this site and did a comparison between the 650 Ti 2GB and my 6870 1GB and it looks pretty even? SEE HERE and thats not even the OC edition.

From what i understand the 650 Ti was a good card? Does that mean mine is?

If needs be i'll run some tests, but going by what s3ns3 said it looks like that comparison website is pretty good?

What cards should i be looking at for an appreciable increase in game performance? Not looking to buy (yet), just curious.

Thanks,
Chris.

650ti was not a good card. It was terribly underpowered. The 650ti boost put that right.

What you upgrade to is deciphered by budget.

You will not find up to date benchmarks with the 6870 compared with new cards. with several drivers release etc it will put it just behind the 650 Ti boost .for a nice upgrade look at least for 7870 XT/gtx 660 Ti . or another 6870 in CF X. its a shame for that PSU to be used at 30% :)

Im not sure i really need to upgrade to be honest as i rarely run any games. I was just curious more than anything. If i were to upgrade it would be for an aesthetics change or just for the hell of it.

I guess i started this topic to maybe get an excuse to upgrade haha.

Do you mean that it's overkill? I bought it because i wanted a modular one and it was on offer :P
