How about this for an idea?

I just saw this on the ebuyer website and it got me thinking:-

Extra Value 1000Mbps Powerline Adapter Twin Pack for a smidge under £50.

OK, so the idea is to incorporate one end into the actual psu, so your psu would have powerline built in. You could then have an RJ45 cable running from your psu to your lan port.

Power up your pc and connect to the lan at the same time - what do you think?

Sounds like a good idea, but what if your PSU broke or the built in Ethernet port on the PSU broke? You would have to buy a new PSU for both problems

Ok what about, if the digital signal was transfered over some of the cables in the 24 pin power, but then you would need a chip on each motherboard to handle it.

I know Hiper do a psu with an integrated usb hub:-

Thought it could be useful as lan maybe, less infrastructure required? Just means you wouldn't have to run cat5 everywhere...
