Highpoint to release the first SATA 6Gb/s host controller in November 2009.

Nice. Tad expensive at the moment ~perhaps~, but in time, and a bit of msrp massaging, it could present itself a nice alternative.

Looking at the pcb, it would appear they'll be running a range with raid, standard single drive and external eSATA.

I'd possibly w8 for Lycom to show their models (only cos I have some of their cards already and they proved both cost effective and simply work).

With the existing cards I have, they work in x4, x16 slots too.

Nice. What would be nicer is to see the Highpoint chipset make it on to motherboards again a-la Abit circa 2000 so we can all have something a bit more 'hardware' than Intel's Matrix Raid, and a little bit more reliable than the other budget chips from jmicron and the like.
