hello im in need of advice im running a 50" plasma with 2 32" led tvs in portrait by the side and im in need of a speedy upgrade the cards im bouncing between the HD 7990, R9 290x, GTX 780 and i want to run in 1080p and a min of 40-50 fps the games i play are mostly racing games like Dirt, WRC , iracing , shift , ETS 2 and the shooters i play are BF4 , borderlands , COD so would anyone be able to tell me witch card it suited to the things i want to do, any fast reply will be great because im running a gtx 660 ti atm

I would buy the GTX 780 it just dropped in price and the r9 290x are running too hot in my opinion. The 7990 is abit overkill for 1080p gaming.

Seconding the GTX 780. I'm seeing Non reference coolers like the MSI Gaming for under £400, and for 1080p gaming you should have no problem with any of the titles you mentioned.

I'd give it a few more days the GTX780 is by far the best choice at this precise moment, but that said the R9 290x was only a reference card and none reference models will start to appear in the next few days

r9 290x is the fastest out single GPU solutions.. The higher the resolution the bigger the gap it makes and comes into a league of its own. 780 or 290(when released) won't be bad options either.

290x runs hot ya but then again it is made to so not a big deal. Aftermaket coolers are coming out soon anyway.

290 was just released. On par with a 780 and at higher res will do better for about 100$ less. With a 290 you only need one card to run 3 screens and do not need to use displayport.

well i found a EVGA GTX 780 acx sc for £380 and the r9 290 is £370 and the both should run a 50" and 2 32" in 1080p gaming and im planing on getting the second card anyway for better FPS.

Screen size does not matter. Its all about the resolution. For example if you took a 20" 1440p monitor and then a 60" TV at 1080p the 20" will be much harder to run.. because of higher resoltuion meaning more pixels to render.

Aftermarket coolers are coming very soon for the 290x(not yet confirmed for 290) and they should drastically help performance by keeping it cool and far more quiet. Also from the few benchmarks i have seen a 290 is faster than a 290x because it can clock higher; with less cores and heat it has more headroom to OC. So IMO i would go for the 290 for price to performance ratio and ability to OC very nicely(depends on silicon too).

Then perfect! Go for a 290 and get a waterblock for it. Cheapest option while still being faster than the 780s

sure asoon as its done i will post a thread with a few pics and video, i have made a little change insted of the 32"s i changed to 2 50"s , tvs are 1 LG 50PS3000 50" Full HD TV and 2 LG 50PN650T 50 inch Full HD TV ,its for my sim rig mainly. all plasmas
