hi I hope someone can help

so here goes I got hold of a asus z68 gene 4 some time back the guy I got it off showed it posting so at the time I got it I know it was working
I hat to save for some time before I could get a 3570k i5 for it

gone to fit it all in and wen I try to get it to post it , it starts and then shuts down as its a rog mobo it has a set of leds on the side (self test )
the cpu led lights up ive had a look at the pins thay are all good I took it to yoyo tech thay got it post so I changed my psu thinking it was that but still the same thing happens

any help guys

It's quite possible that you need to update the bios. Remember - that's an older board designed with Sandybridge in mind..

I would take it to someone with a CPU they can use to get it working and update the bios to a later one.

One thing I've seen is that Ivybridge bioses really screw up Sandybridge CPUs. I was warned by Asrock not to update but didn't listen and it screwed my Xeon up completely. I had to put a Celeron back in the board and reflash it back to the older bios.
