help with v2000 mod

ok first phase mod so i removed the drive bays etc but now I have a problem...

the hose is on the wrong side!

when looking at the unit from the condenser, all the mods I have seen have the hose rising on the right, through the hole for the psu cables

my stock unit has the hose rising on the left.

how much can I bend it? i dont really want to turn the unit around in the case as that gives me a problem with where to put the psu

what do I do?

a few pics that hopefully illustrate the point

it's a bit difficult to see from your pics but where my hose bends upwards did you bend it back towards the hole and then thread it through your L shaded hole back toward the motherboard?

Don't forget that in the V2000 the mobo is upside down so do remember to take that into consideration when you fit your mach

Hi mate. I just pm'd you at xs as Phils aid you have done a similar mod. I will put the mobo in tonight to get a better idea before I do any bending but I think it's unavoidable. If I make a hole for the tub to rise through the divider as it is bent at the moment, there will be too much hose above the divider and it will have to bend back on itself to reach the cpu socket somewhere near the bottom right.

I need to know where is the best place to bend.

in this picture http://www.killsound.com/forum/lian-li2.jpg the guy appears to have bent the tube back towards the hole where the upright starts and then, once through the divider, back towards the cpu. that looks like it would work but the bending looks severe.

If I can bend the bit before the braid (with the thick foam), I could probably make the angles a bit gentler.

there's something else I need to know.

On the controller card, where the compressors live and neutral are attached, they go into a white connector. How do you release the wires from this so that I can extend it a bit?

That's interesting, does that suction have a U bend in it, I can't see one from the pic unless the big amount going over the top of the comp is ment to be the U?

Interesting way of doing the lines, I remember mine coming outa the comp, along the bottom and up through the mach chasis.

I know how you mean. The only thing that could be described as a 'u' is what you see above the compressor, coming towards you in the picture.

That's true - I don't remember mine being quite like that. I didn't have to severly bend it anywhere; it just gently went through ;)

If you look at the bottom picture.

I thought I could maybe staighten the 90 degree bend at the end of the horizontal (where it bends back towards case). Then there would be a large horzontal to the back of the case, where the hose could rise through the divider, away from the motherboard tray.

Cool, let us know how it goes - perhaps with some pics ;)

I think my V2000 with MachII was my best case. Kinda wish I never sold it now :(

Will do. I have been taking a few as I have been going along but not as many as I would like.

So far completed

drilled out drive cages etc from lian li

re-design of psu plate (turn plate udside down and flip over so that psu is at the top with air intake below, reposition supporting bracket and mounting holes)

dismantle prommie

bend cap tube to fit + enlarge hole in divider

To do

clean up prommie and install onto metal plate to slot into lian li

make bracket to support condenser and lift it up to the intake dust cover

make bracket for rear fan

rewire controller card into seperate box + mount under condenser bracket

Install box at the rear of the prommie to handle AC fittings

Mod CD cover to include LCD display

For the watercooling

clean components

install fillport (danger den)

install pump (aquaextreme 50z)

Install rad (single 120mm)

fit gfx block (swiftech mcw60) and ramsinks

fit tubing (masterkleer 7/16 - 5/8 OD)

Leak test

Fit the rest

Now just to get my wife to leave me alone and my 13 month old girl to bed!
