Help with new system.

I am putting together a system for a friend. He has an Hp desktop now. I'm going to swap out everything except the hard drive. Will I be able to get him going with all the new parts or does he need a new os also? Thanks.

yeah he will need an new OS

You might be able to salvage the key from the case and re-install if you can come up with an OS disk.
