Help with brand new system

Long story short, I had to sell my last rig due to a house move and loss of a job.

Finally back on my feet and returning to university to finish my final year in computer science, so it's time to acquire a machine after doing 40 hours+ for weeks on end.

Looking at spending £700-800

or

£1200+ on a buy now pay later plan

Need something to last me a couple of years, I'll obviously swap and add components like SSD's or RAM, but the core effectively needs to last me 2 years (cpu, motherboard, gpu)

I'm completely out of the loop at the moment with parts so help would be awesome.

I'll be using really CPU intensive programs and I'm mainly hooked on Diablo 3 and league of legends.

Anyone tried the buy now pay later plans?

I'll be using really CPU intensive programs

What programs would that be? Do you need maximum power for one or two single threads, or can you profit from more cores etc?

I am not a huge fan of "buy now, pay later". On the other hand I don't like owing anyone anything...

I would benefit more from more cores, the work for uni isn't particularly intensive but i love to work with UE4/3DS Max in my spare time.

I use DX11 viewport shaders in max, but also render out beauty shots which took a fair amount of time on my 3770k.

Looking at the 3ds max benchmarks most of todays 8-Thread CPUs are within a max. 10% range of your 3770K. If you want a real performance gain (from the CPU alone) there are only a few that will deliver. (Note: The latest Intels were not benched yet)
All of the better ones are Intel 6core/12-thread ones. So a newer Haswell will be within this range.
But this could really take a swing at your budget. (If you don't want to use an outdated GPU)

Wait? the 5820k and 5930k are basically the same part but with reduced PCI-E lanes?

£290 is a bloody bargain :O

And 3,3GHz vs 3,5GHz as well as (as far as I know) a smaller L3 cache. (Keep in mind that you need 16 lanes already for your gpu)

If you like it and you don't mind then this could be your way to go. Honestly, I forgot about the 5920 already (because 28 lanes = no way) :X
