Help undelete a file

Hey guys I had a stupid moment earlier.

I had just recorded a video for my youtube channel using fraps but I had made some mistakes in attempts before hand. So I went to delete those before I went about editing the actual video I wanted to use. When I looked back in the fraps folder the video was gone so I just went to my recycling bin as I didn't do a hard delete if you get me. But the file I am looking for is not there. All the rest are but the file I am looking for is not.

Any help in recovery it would be appreciated.

I am running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit if that makes a difference.

AFAIK to recover a deleted file you must be running some software before hand to be able to do it.

But if you say that you didn't permanently delete the file and it's not in recycle bin, is it possible that you accidentally drag and dropped it into a random folder?

You could try some recovery programs. The one I use most often is called Recuva.

Download it here. Run a regular scan first and if you can't find the file do a deep scan. If you are still unsuccessful, then maybe you accidentally dropped it into another folder as mentioned above.

Thanks so much guys.

I used recuva and got the file back. The first scan didn't find it but a deep scan has found it. Thanks again guys, my lets play would be missing a video without you.

That's good to hear. Glad you got it to work

i have HDD forensics software that can recover files from disks. although it has to be do straight away.

deleting data from a disk ONLY removes its indexed physical location from the FAT - it is still there, until written over by newer data.
