thank you. i was wondering what is the best graphics card i can get, that would not need a power source as i only have a 250w psu i allready have a powercolor x550 that got 4078 on 3dmark03

There aren't many decent GFX cards that will work with a 230w PSU mate

You'll either have to bite the bullet and buy a PSU or not :(

all graphic cards draw power from the motherboard, some however, the more power hungry ones, have their own molex feed. what level of performance you looking for?

edit: kempz beat me, id get a proper PSU if i were you, theyre important especially if your trying to OC

depends on your budget but most popular around are probably Hiper and Antech, but OCZ, akasa and most major brands are good, you get what you pay for really

It seems the main favorites for budget are Enermax, Antec (do NOT get the Neo HE models as apparantly they are horrible with high RMA rates), Hiper, lower end FSP/Fortron/Sparkle, 400W Seasonic, and the OCZ Modstream series. High-quality would be higher-end FSP/Fortron/Sparkle, 500-600W Seasonic (these are the QUIET solutions), Tagan, OCZ Powerstream series. Best of the best are Zippy/Emac, PCP&C, and the Silverstone 560W Zeus (Etasis-made OEM server-class, slightly worse than other 2, but better than most). I'm sure there are others that I'm forgetting to mention

For what you've got, almost any good name brand PSU will do. You don't have anything that's going to push a PSU to its limits so you should be fine with just about whatever you find / choose.

hi i've just purchased a Q-TEC PSU 650W TRIPLE FAN 24P and i was wondering which is the power connection for the graphics card because i dont think that it has one, if it hasn't is there some kind of adapter???:worship:

what do you mean? does the graphics card have a 4 pin connector on it? if it does, just plug one of the standard molex into it

That PSU will explode if use it with anything high end, just to tell you.

Q-Tec is one of the worst PSU brand's out there. I mean, they're at almost rock bottom.

Good luck, but I highly reccomend you stop using it.

Nick

Q-Tec - not on Matt's list of PSU's I'd let near my case :p

Q-Tec - is on Matt's list of PSU's that I'd secretly plant into someone's PC I wouldn't like :D
