You havnt read our review then obviously. anyone that says it doesnt clock, obviously cant clock and should not be commenting.

The Zotacs dont have voltage options so dont clock any better than reference and the cooler is huge and compaired to the lightning its also pretty crap. I deffo wouldnt ever tell anyone to actually spend money on an AMP over the Lightning.

no offence but i can clock. i have a 5870 lightning 2 that i have gotten to 1.4ghz core. my friend just picked up 2 480 lightnings and we cant for the life of us get it passed 900mhz.

You need to use the software to tweak it further. 900core for a 480 on air is amazing.

You need to stop looking at the MHz and realise different chips and architecure are what counts not just the Mhz.

A 4ghz single core 775 P4 isnt the same as a 4ghz 1366 i7 is it.

If you have a 5870 at 1400core on air please show us a screenshot - with justforoc3d and your forum user name and the date in a text doc on your screen screen (basically I dont belive you)

reason being the only other clocks much over 1050 core have been subzero

for one i did do it under ln2 to hit 1.4, i can get to 1.2 under air in a cold a environment on my 5870. and i understand different chip architectures but that doesn't negate from the fact that it shouldn't be able to hit passed 1ghz or more. you should be able to get well passed for example a PNY 480 under ln2 because of how many more watts you can push through the lightning. i would hope a 480 lightning could hit 1.4 under ln2. the only thing holding back the lightning or hawk cards are the nvidia chips themselves.

"the fact that it shouldn't be able to hit passed 1ghz or more." thats bull mate and you know it. Its just such an open term. Its not because it should its because YOU want it too.

"the only thing holding back the lightning or hawk cards are the nvidia chips themselves" Stating the obvious, thats the same with practically every GPU out there not just the extreme ones fella.

how is that bull that [font="Verdana, sans-serif, FreeSans"]the fact that it shouldn't be able to hit passed 1ghz or more. if you are going to spend $80 more (at least here in the USA), and msi redesigns the PCB from the ground up to be set for EXTREME overclockers. it would be bull if i were talking about a stock gtx 480 but this is as good as it gets in terms of overclocking (cooling solution out of the question). i have returned my 5870 lightning at least 6 times until they finally gave me one that would hit 1ght, now i know its AMD fault for manufacturing the chip but still. if i am going to invest more in a product for a feature that it should have or should do then i want that feature. this isnt a matter of GPUs and overclocking, this is a matter of business. I think some one is telly e-porkys - really dude we are about real life here. If you want to spout lies then at least have the back ground knowlege to back it up and dont just quote what youve read. There far too many holes in what youve said so far it stands out like a saw thumb.

Former: Read nothing but good reviews.

Latter: Read nothing but good reviews.

Thanks for your learned input.

ok

for the money u payed for that case you could of for the NZXT phantom or the BITfinx collosus, and they are far better in evryway than that case.

and OCZ ATM are no the best company to BUY anything from at the moment last i heard was they were going out of buis and struggling.crucial and kingston make some of the best fella ATM

I'm not adverse to advice mate, only glib useless comments. Cheers. Fair enough the Antec, I need to take that on the chin. But the OCZ seemed fine, sans commercial issues. Tbf, the last PC I built was based on an A8V so Im trying to get back into this

how am i talking out my arse with that first comment.i even gave you a explanation of my meaning without you even asking the second time.

bad choices on both them items IMO

Two wastes of money right there, 480 Lightening and only a 60GB SSD? I would of gotten two 460's and spent the rest on a larger SSD.

bravo tiny for deleting my last two posts making me look like the bad guy, REAL MATURE. if you are going to delete certain posts that appears to be an argument, be sure to delete all of them so you dont give everyone on the site the biased impression that you some how you were the one who was right. that is really rude and very below the belt, its like arguing with a child.

What would you suggest that I should have went for in those price brackets?

OK I will be the voice of reason.

A case is down to personal taste. Antecs are very understated. To me they're boring but hey, I have eccentric taste
biggrin.gif

But yeah, to me I don't get too much into the complete ins and outs of hardware as long as it works.

But OCZ have been in all kinds of trouble lately and it shows. They've now stopped making memory and power supplies and their SSDs are beginning to suffer performance wise.

Crucial do amazing SSD, as do Corsair. But OCZ lost their crown a wee while ago mate and I can't see them getting it back now.

Sorry mate missed a bit..

You could have pretty much gotten any of the 60/64gb ssds on the market. They're all around the same price now.

It's a shame because I think as of Monday I will be selling a brand new Patriot Torqx Turbo and they're not even for sale yet
biggrin.gif

I just CBA to reinstall or clone Windows one more time lol.

you could of got the NZXT phantom white or black

and a 64gb kingston V or for a tad more one of the crucual 64gbs

What if he doesn't like the Phantom?

This is the thing people sometimes forget. Cases are not bought on their amazing cooling abilities and it's not worth buying something you're going to have to live with just because it offers slightly better cooling and or airflow.

Due to my taste in cases I recently tried to find one that was curvy and sleek and cooled better than the Alienware. And the only one I really found that appealed to me was the Thermaltake Element S. Which was only really better because it had cable management. It wasn't even built as well.

From the look of it the OCZ performs quite well. Probably faster than the Kingston. I would only really advise against OCZ because of what's been happening with them lately, warranty might be a risk ETC.

I'd rather have a slower drive that has a good warranty on a company I expect to stick around. The noises coming from OCZ aren't good.
