Help erasing OS off Samsung 840 Pro

Hey all, I am trying to erase my OS off of my ssd so I can put it in a new build. The Samsung Magician software has a "Secure Erase" tab, and it says I have to create a bootable disk, or USB drive to erase it since it is the OS drive I am trying to reformat.

When I try booting off of the bootable disk or USB drive, it takes me to an illegible screen where none of the words can be made out.
And I don't have on board graphics to plug into.
How do I erase this thing?

Care to explain how it benefits the SSD? Not saying you're wrong just wondering.

Windows will just wipe the drive as if it was just a standard HDD a Secure Erase flush's the actual flash chip's basically reseting the drive to a day one drive from the factory.
This can allso be used when SSD's start to get slow from use.

I've already tried Secure Erase your Solid State Drive (SSD) with Parted Magic, once you get drive unlocked and use NULL for password, it only takes around a few seconds to finish. Surprisingly fast.

+1

I did this when my old Corsair GT started to slow down, Used Atto and it stated 400MB/S on both read and write, Used the secure erase feature of the Asus Maximus VI Formula and did the same test with the same updates and programs installed a few hours later and the speed was back to 555 MB/S Read and 525 MB/S Write.

Have they added anything to Parted Magic since they started charging for it?

They rebuilt and upgraded a few things but nothing major worth noting.

I figured it out, if you are having problems Secure Erasing your SSD using Samsung Magician, don't guy buying Parted Magic just yet.

Samsung Magician asks you to create a bootable disk or usb to run secure erase, if after you boot of that disk, the screen is un-readable, push "esc" and it will take you to a DOS included on the boot drive. You'll want to type in:

dsrdgui0 /s
or
segui0 /s
To install the font needed to run their gui correctly.

Got it to securely erase my SSD in about a minute or two.

btw, I found all of this in Samsung Magician > Help > Secure Erase > Troubleshoot
