help choosing TV

hey guys

here is my scenario:

I am about to redo my bedroom come easter, and im looking for a home theater setup for relaxation and work.

i was hell bent on getting the Samsung LE32N73BD, but a few people have put that choice in doubt.

what i want to do is the following:

have a seperate (sony 800w) 5.1 sound system, so the sound on the TV doesn't really matter, but a single 5.1 input at least would be nice (maybe even digital coax).

hook up my PVR (which also has inbuilt twin DVB-T digital tuner) to the TV (and sound system) (connection will be scart)

hook up my PC to my TV (this is PARAMOUNT. i NEED it to be clear with no lag. I intend to watch my anime and movies from the PC on to the TV. Anime has a tendency to be fast and have a range of colours going on at the same time that you don't generally get on a typical live action movie.) (connection will be via DVI/DVI to HDMI)

hook up my DVD player (which has HD upscale, so i can watch my normal dvd movies in DECENT quality) (connection will be HDMI).

my budget on the TV is no greater than £800 (GBP).

(sound system is a seperate £400 expenditure, but don't woz about that for now)

any help would be much appreciated guys - thx

btw:

32" max.......i wouldn't mind having the tv as a secondary monitor, so I can't have it TOO big......the room is only 5meters by 5meters. (put a bed in, sofa, computer and u get how small it can get :P)

^^ SCAN looks like a good chice purely on its price. but there is always this one that comes in just under budget from sharp.

that one is too big @ 42"...........i need 32" max (i dont want the "sitting on first row at cinema" effect :P)

but all look sweet choices thus far

Personally I love Samsung TV's. The quality is awesome and they look sweet. However for £339 I don't know how you can go wrong with the SCAN TV

lol, thats my dilemma, i can get 10% discount on a samsung TV (perk of being part time PCWorld techie (boohisss :P)), but i was worried that the quality would be atrocious on the PC........as ive heard that their dynamic contrast ratio can really make a bad impact on dark movies and whatnot.

(can u turn dynamic things off on the samsungs?)

i have the samsung 32" and use the vga port for my htpc. works really well. Havent played any games so not sure about lag.

when you mean dynamic things, you talking about dynamic contrast? Ifso, yes you can.

soz to be such a pain in the ass :P

i just dont wanna be lumped with a tv that i won't enjoy

+1+1+1

We have two Samsung HDTV's in the house and both are great.

(one 32" Samsung CRT, 1080i/480p/480i and a 42" Samsung DLP, 1080i/720p/480p/480i)

My bedroom TV is a 13" Samsung and my dad has a small 9" Samsung in the office/den. My PC monitor is a Samsung and my dads PC monitor is a Samsung. We have a lot of Samsung displays and they all pwn.

As for service? Dunno if it's the same over there in Europe but my dad was having some weird light issues in dark scenes on his DLP so he gave Samsung a call. A week later they had a tech here and they replaced the bulb and did some calibrations free of charge.

That's service.

Some other brands to consider would be Panasonic (they make a good unit here and there), Hitachi (Ultravision's Only Plz!) and SOME (repeat) SOME Sony's. Their Grand WEGA and LCOS lines are nice.

as i work for DSGi (PCWorld), they are basically pushing the Samsungs at me, one of my managers has 2 Samsungs and he loves em, one of the other staff has 3 samsungs..........

so after your comment and comment of others, ill try out the Samsung, if i dont like it i'll just quote em the 28 day law whereas if the product does not do what you need it to do then u can return it :P

Report back on how it goes cybermaniac!

I thinking of getting a TV to use as a monitor as well. ;)

well after easter, im getting this baby kitted out.

gonna be a major overhaul of my room.

taking EVERYTHING out (including carpets, wallpaper, wardrobes, chest of drawers etc)

then getting new bed, a single rotating chair (to sit down to watch tv on), single executive chair for pc, PC table, TV table, simple carpet.

no wardrobes, no chest of drawers.

800w of sound in an almost empty square room with heavy set curtains to keep most of the sound in, double glazing windows.

HOOOOOOOAHHHHHHHHHH

The first one has two HDMI inputs the second has three on it. The first one has front AV sockets the second one does not.
