Hello All

My name is NeiMaD and I am from the rather large island of Australia. I have been a repair tech for way too many years and after being thrown out of a 10 year long stint and the last 6 months being taken for a ride I have decided to branch out and get into some custom computers. I have always dabbled high end gaming rigs and the odd LED strip here and there but only after the disaster of the last few months I really want to get into doing something creative.

A lot of stuff is new to me as for most of my career I have worked in a repair shop dealing with OEM machines and never really had any big gaming or custom rigs. After getting my hands on some fancy new keyboards and mice I have decided its about time to get my hands dirty and get into a rather large build. Little did I know that it would spawn not only a hobby but also a new business.

I have now built a small number of custom (not the usual) desktops for friends and now everyone in my local area is coming to me for (that mad computer you built for jimmy) kind of stuff, but the sad thing is I don’t have one for myself.

So I decided if im going to do it I might as well go as big as I can but this has shown that I am not prepared at all. I have very few tools, I don’t really have much of a workspace and well I just don’t seem to posses the skills that I thought I had :P

Today was the first day of opening the wallet and buying some tools. I didn’t realise how expensive some stuff was as my previous employer bought and provided everything. Going into something myself I wanted to get the most amount of stuff I could without going overboard so I bought what I had at my old workshop the ifixit business toolkit and a few other screwdrivers pliers and cutters and what ever else I could think of I needed. I still don’t have everything I need but its slowly coming together.

So I thought what to build has to be x299 and has to be that fancy new water cooling I see. So I bought a TheTower 900 of now im saving the pennies from the jobs I can do to start buying hardware. Has to be x299 and a 1080ti but as far as it goes im open to suggestions.

That’s it for now thanks for reading and ill talk to you soon.
