is there a deadline for this to be completed???

Case of waiting for parts now Socks, exterior is at the painters, I need to boot the whole rig up on air to test it and get windows on a drive, then Ill rip it all down and start the final build.

This is top of my todo list when everything is here.

Wow, water jet cutting looks like it doesn't damage the panel as much or at all compared to laser cutting does with the burning etc. Looks a great build mate, watching this one! :worship:

May I offer some thought on your HDD choice.

Samsung F1 series is reliable and quick however only at size 750Gb and 1Tb does it provide speed comparable and above that of a Raptor (respectively) as shown in OC3D reviews.

I apparently have a ridiculously large amount of OS & Apps but most do not, 150Gb is usually fine. As this machine is pretty hot I am under the apprehension that speed is paramount not cost but I would also believe that when compromise has only benefits no downfalls that it is a good option.

The perfromance difference between Samsung F1 and the Raptor range is negliable when actually reading only the seek time shows promise. May I suggest the Veloci as your system disk only as anything under 750Gb F1 will be slower. A Veloci with a F1 1Tb will provide maximum performance as well as best value. Of course you could have 2x 1Tb but 1Tb OS&Apps disk is just mental.

actually the 320/640/1000gb F1's are the fastest, all the others are slower :P

That said, the velociraptor is still the fastest of all of them..

There wasnt a 640 last time I checked speeds :D

Veloci may be faster but the benefit is bugger all in experience :P but massive in wallet.

Ooh, Maybe I just made that up, but defo the 320/1tb are the fastest...

I dont thinkg veloci's are worth it, but then again I have 2 raptors :S

But as enthusiasts we don't think with our wallets we think with our hearts and lets face it raptors are cool

They are, especially with the little window on top!

system disk atm is going to be a 250gn f1 storm

and a 500gb f1 spinny as a media etc.

veloci x2 im getting from rma = sell to pay for stuff as i doubt there gonna do much tbh, and i could benefit from a cash boost atm

and 320gb f1 ?? faster than a 250 also i have seen 6** gb f1's

i'd stick with samsung, they're still one of the quietest, i've head loud drives and i've heard raptors.. silly noise for what doesn't really make it worthit performance in my opinion...

Its at the painters matey. Ive been in london doing afew bits but when I get back HDD's should be there so Ill be doing some air tests before ripping down to get waterblocks ect fitted, it should start to take shape by the end of the week ;)

Ive finaly got all the parts for welshys build here now *whooop!*

I had some spare time this morning so got his chassis all together,

Im going to get an OS on there and do some air tests then make a start on all the watercooling..... should be fun

I wanted to give welshys rig an air test first just to make sure it was all ok, so I made my desk look like a bomb site with it all!

I used my 4870 and psu, Welshys GPU arrived wet in the box so its still drying out.

Got an OS on there and loaded all the drivers ect, then stripped it all down to mount all the water blocks.

The SB block on these needs to be modded to fit around the caps, so the file was called for!

so the mobo is all blocked up ready now, last but not least an arty farty pic

This thread can also be followed in my own forum on OC3D *HERE*

Now where this is a full system build for welsh, it needed to be tweaked as much as possible. The XP OS has had a full black Vista style over haul but it needed some more funk. Me and the Photoshop Master the man that melts durons have been trying to get a wallpaper sorted for the welsh monster.

What do you guys think of this?
