Heh all... noob here :)

Just piecing together a new system as it's been a LONG time since I've upgraded anything... and along the way in my search for information I came across a few really neat sites.

Hope ya don't mind me asking a few questions along the way in this learning experience... and trust me... there is lots for me to learn

Hopefully I'll have all the parts together by New Years... and then the fun begins

Heh Kempez and PV5150... thanks soo much.

Ouch... checked out those rigs... dang....looks like I'm a bit off eh?

I wasn't planning a new build at this time of year though... got most of the parts at bargain bin prices :D and am crossing my fingers they all play nice together.

By the way... wow... checking out the Intel Forums... SWEET posts everyone has up on OC'ing... gonna take me forever to go through them :)

Nice new rig you're piecing together mate, hope all goes well for you!!

Welcome to OC3D, hope you stick around and chill with us. :wavey:

Lol my thoughts exactly, some of us have a smaller budget than almost all of those computers :p Screw being 15 and jobless.

haha... nooooo... the good kind :)

Just finished rebuilding the old Flareside... and bought an old CJ5 to buildup this winter. I won't even go into the Motorbike/Snowmachine thing... ha...

Anyhow... ha... as with anything else... I'm startin' from scratch and pretty much have no idea what I'm doing yet again... but hoping to learn a lot more in the next while :). The last rig I "assembled" I was too afraid to mod at all... now... time to dig in :)

Welcome mate,

I'm sure you will get all the help you need. I wasn't familiar with that gfx card so I googled it in the uk it is £400+, a quick look on newegg it's 400 bucks...

For a tiny bit more you can get yourself the nvidia 8800gts - dx10 ready, overclocks like a charm to gtx speeds. Just a thought

At one of our cheapest Canadian retailers

$715.29 CAD before taxes and s/h.

But.... with a wee bit of searching... not minding a couple of month old card, and a lot-o-luck... managed to pick it up for .....$174.48 CAD to my door :D :D

Ha...gotta luv e-bay and bidding in the wee hours of the mornin' :worship:

Think that works out to:

97.7097 EUR

65.6646 GBP

watcha matey, welcome, looks like you got some good gear and deals, look forward to hearing how it goes in the new year.

from old, but not bald (yet) and not broke but married with kids (same thing in many ways lol) beware all you young'uns.

Heh chudley :)

Ha... my favourite saying is "old enough to know better, young enough to learn a h*lluva lot more".... and I'm looking to do just that :)

This week is almost killin' me... almost all my parts are in... think the Ram is at the post office today... and the case... just waiting for it to show up :) so I can spend next week putting it all together.

Ha... then the fun begins :D

Update:

I ended up breaking down and buying a couple of HD's last night... 2 x Seagate Barracuda 250GB 7200.9 8MB 11MS SATA2 NCQ RoHS Hard Drives and 1 x Western Digital 250GB SATA WD2500JS hard drive. Not the fastest... but SATA... needed for the mobo.

Today... wahoo... got the mail and sure enough the ram and case came in.

I've pretty much got the computer assembled today... just formatting an old 200GB ata HD to get it up and running for now.

Only one problem... the powersupply I bought... doesn't have a power cable!!!!:banghead: Soo... time to scrounge the house... call up the sisters hubby... find a cord somewhere to turn it on and see if I hooked it all up right. :)

Jeez... this christmas thing is going to get in the way isn't it? :D

Dam holidays are always in the way:D The worst is weekends, always messing up my 2 day shiping...

Congrats on the new build...
