Headphone discussion thread

All these headphone stands are making me want one myself. Suggest me a nice one lads?

I have a Silverstone SST-EBA01 and I love it. Its very heavy and quite pricey though. It'll hold two of the heaviest headphones you can get your hands on.

I also will have an Inwin Mr Bubble soon (atleast I think its a Mr bubble) as well.

Is there a difference in audio quality between the DT 990 PRO and the DT 990 (the expensive 32Ω) EDITION?
Other than the semi-open to open design look identical to me

Really surprised how big the Silverstone audio gear is.

Yeah they're quite chunky. When someone took them apart they worked out you could fit both of them together in one case. Can't fault them apart from a driver issue I have (as i run it through usb) where it won't detect the DAC on startup unless it is unplugged. I'm sure there is a way around it but I've yet to find it.

Yeah as I use the Schiit stuff I get the same issue. Forcing "Allow windows to turn this device off to save power" off fixed this for me. You can do it device manager.

Speaking of DACs... I've been considering swapping out my FiiO E10 and seperate PS400 PSU (for my condenser microphone) for a Focusrite Scarlett Solo. The reason I like the FiiO though, is because it doesn't require drivers and I run both Windows and OS X on my PC. I use Windows as day to day OS, but when audio recording/editing I always switch to OS X.

I have however read that people seem to have driver issues with the Scarlett 212i in Windows but I've not read anything about the new Solo even needing drivers? Does anyone have one and can they enlighten me? :)

Nope Editions and Pros are the same drivers, but they have different construction leading to a different fit and sound.

The DT 880 PRO is designed for use in studio and on stage for professional use. It's headband has a more rugged construction (thicker material) and gives a more secure fit for the listener in comparison to the DT 880 Edition. This provides a better fit and causes also a more powerful compressed sound which is necessary for professional applications in studio, OB and FOH. The DT 880 Edition therefore is designed for easy listening. The headband provides a long wearing comfort for hours, causing the DT 880 Edition to have a more transparent and open sound in comparison to the DT 880 PRO.

The differences of both headphones are not huge in mechanical design, but only that small change causes a big difference in sound and application.

The following headphones DT 990 PRO - DT 990 Edition have a very similar difference.

I know us Germans have to live up to the stereotype of no humour but come on !!! ^_^

don't worry, i got the joke

I saw this the other day, wondering how it sounds? I know auna are kinda a budget-orientated company, does that translate to the sound?

i used an e10 before and this one certainly sounds better imo. can't compare it to other amps/dacs
the hd700s didn't sound that great with the e10, i prefered the akg k702 there, but with this amp i'm loving the hd 700s

mhh, my AKG K7XX arrived yesterday. Damn they're pretty nice cans, and they're so much more comfortable than my Q701s! :D
