Those cans are looking mighty fine Dice! I might need to invest in a decent pair of headphones for gaming and music myself.

Alright, so my goals is to get one of these
HD 558 or
HD 518 (are those good?) or
HyperX Cloud (perharps rev2) or
Steelseries Siberia V2

I'd say yes to the HD558 and the Cloud, but both have a very different sound signature compared to each other, are you able to test them somewhere maybe?

clearly hd558 out of those

Provided that I have the money of course. If you've noticed I've sorted price accordingly. Are the HD518 any good? They are around 100Euros here.

Edit @TPC Sadly no, I can't test them somewhere. I'm looking for something that will get me good gaming audio and excellent music for Heavy Metal and Rock

well since rock has rather many mids and highs they wont really be that great since they tend to be kinda muddy around that area and the bass shall be to heavy, thats what atleast the guys in a forum of my trust say.
And I do really trust them since they have helped me quite a bit already or who would have thought that Phillips makes better headphones than Beyerdynamic? (IMO!)

they are really well but for that price its not good enough, and for gaming you want to go with an open style HP since it will just give you a larger soundstage, it will listen to you more realistic not that standard "I hear everything from left and right but its running towards me from the front" thing

the ATH-M40x would go into the direction of the M50s but pretty cheaper and the sound is nearly the same, I tested it myself after the M50s got hyped that bad.

Edit: or the normal M50 without 'X'

How do the ATH-M50x for rock and metal?

I've got a pair of ATH-M40Fs lying around and they're pretty good. Nice bass, but not overpowering and awesome mids so you can hear pretty much all the tracks.

Edit; I should add that I have them plugged in to my FiiO E10.

I have a pair of :

Shure 440
AKG 550
AKG 551

also a fiio e10 :)

I originally bought the k550 because I really liked the design and when I heard them I fell in love. Then AKG brought out the k551, with a shorter cable ad even nicer colours and since I can't get enough of the open sound of them, I picked those up too, as a cheeky Christmas present. A lot of audiophiles talk about finding that ''perfect'' headphone with a flat respones ect. but I personally cannot imagine anything better sounding than the k550/1. I've had a play with dt770/990s, a whole bunch of Senns, Audio technicas but there's something magical about the presentation of the k550/1 that I just can't get over. Massive soundstage in a closed can, bottomless bass extension, reasonably rolled off highs... they have everything I like in a headphone :)

I urge you all to try them, I think they might be end of life because they sell on Amazon for £100, down from the £330 original price, and the £280 I paid for my k550.

If you listen to super heavy metal then the bass is needed. If you listen to bands like Of Mice and Men, then something like the Dt770s are probably better. Not as much bass but is better in mids and highs. Also if you do plan on gaming the Dt990s will be the best option.

I have the Dt990s 250ohm pro with a Fiio e10k. No complaints here!

akg is great indeed and everything you said is absolutely true but I dislike one thing in their approach, the move from a mid tone to a high tone can cause the high to stay muddy shortly but after half a second it's totally ok again.

edit, I have to stop immediately to be so picky, that's disgusting

AKG Q701 on a stand I designed, apart a few darker areas from the lasercutter I looks quite nice imo, and it does it's job
