Haswell RAM question

Been wondering if anyone knows if Haswell will be using the same dual channel RAM being used today?

I may order my RAM now before the prices go up. Would it be a good idea to get the memory below for £80 now?

16GB (2x8GB Corsair DDR3 Vengeance Performance, PC3-14900 (1866), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-10-9-27, XMP, 1.5V

Thanks guys :)

I don't expect the RAM prices to change very much
If you need new RAM now, go for it
If you don't, I'd wait

Haswell and broadwell will be using ddr3 yes from what ive seen and the one after (sky?lake i think it is) is set for ddr4 introduction iirc.

Wish I had purchased that RAM. It has gone up by £11 already since I posted. Probably will be £100 by the time Haswell is out judging by the news :(

Don't see the point in even considering DDR4 really. It will not be available when Haswell releases and eventually when it is available it will cost a lot. It will likely make little sense from an price for performance perspective for me.

Still though, would be nice if Haswell supported it :)

Now £102 :(

Why oh why did I not buy when it was cheap. Should have listened to my gut.

Every time a new DDR releases it has a rocky start.

Early DDR3 was horribly expensive and the timings weren't a patch on DDR2 so there was hardly any speed increase in it. The main 'advantage' was that you could get 1333mhz ram which wasn't possible on DDR2 (late sets were 1066 but that was about the limit).

Obviously with X58 being triple channel you had no choice but it wasn't that much better than dual channel really.

Yeah, but the current price increases have nothing to do with DDR4 I think. They just lowered the production of RAM from what I understand, so less supply means higher prices.

Good olde recession eh?

I did hear a few months ago that it was set to soar again.

I'm just thankful I've got all I need for now, and it's lifetime warranty too so it should last me O.K.

I ended up ordering that RAM now, but in a matter of 3-4 weeks prices shot up as I thought they were going to. It cost me £93.50 in the end which is £13.50 more than the cheapest online back when I first posted.

The news is the prices will continue to go up. If anyone is reading this, get your RAM now before prices go up further.

Most places are selling the memory I just baught for £110+ now!

Would have thought there would be more informed people here to guide noobs like myself in these situations. It was silly of me, but I held off buying because of that one post. lol

Oh well :)
