Hard Drive lot. Good Buy?

1 x Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 250 Gb

1 x Samsung SP0842N 80 Gb

1 x Western Digital Caviar 160 Gb

1 x Hitachi Deskstar 250 Gb

Hey guys,

I just bought the above 4 hard drives, untested for £54

Opinions? Good buy?

My main HD Is a 500gb seagate arracuda 7200.10

Will any of the above be able to do that RAID0 thingy with it?

What would the best use of these HDs be?

LOL. True that.

As for RAID0 you need two identical drives - capacity/age/make - for best performance.

At the minimum you need the same capacity.

So the 2 x 250gbs could work.

If they all work - deal.

Could always try raid5 jbod i that way they should all work providing they are all sata, otherwise you might be slightly flummoxed!

If hypothetically they all work what do you guys think i should do with them? The 80gb for example is that really worth using up a space in my desktop just for 80gb?

if you need all the storage then use them,sell the ones you dont need

I would do that assuming someone would pay £75 for them...

I bought them on a whim so I really hope they all work.
