Hard Drive Extend Issues Help Please!

Hello,

My hard drive used to be the drive I had my OS on, I am trying to extend it (C:). I have now formatted this drive so the old windows 7 I had installed is no longer present on this hard drive, The drive is split into to 2 partitions which has now become problematic as I am running out of space on the (D:) Partition of the drive.

Now that i have a new OS on a different hard drive these drive Partitions have become:

(E:) - Partition with space, Used to be (C:) - ( On my old OS )

(D:) - Partition that needs extra space

After messing around with stuff and trying to combine these Partitions I Deleted (E:) And clicked extend on Drive Partition (D:)and it would not let me extend the Partition with the unallocated space I just created (224Gb) it only allowed me to extend by 64Mb.

I then proceeded to re-create the drive partition I just deleted.

After doing so my partitions changed names:

(E:) - Partition that needs space, Used to Be (D:)

(D:) - Partition with space, used to be (E:)

I Attempted to Shrink (D:) And extend (E:) with that space but it did not allow me to do so, then I attempted to extend (D:) With the unallocated space I shrunk from it and it allowed me to do so! I don't understand why I can't extend (E:)

Before I proceed to mess everything up again, I would like to ask the Community of OC3D for help as you have proved helpful in previous scenarios.

So how do I combine these drives and not loose the files on The Partition which requires Space!(E:)

I Apologize if this was confusing

Please help me!

thats why people shouldn't bother with partitions

and yes very confusing lol, let me read that again and see if i can make sense out of it

hmmm....i cant really do anything over the internet if you know what i mean and it probably a matter of fiddling around with the unallocated space, what are the partitions formatted into? FAT32 has some limitations, all should be ntfs

did you try to DELETE the volume instead of shirking it?

do we need 3 partitions?

C,D and E?

C for OS ok must have

D for storage, and we need extra space

what is E used for?

E is used for all my games at the moment, Yes I did Delete D, it then became unallocated space but it still would not allow me to extend with E. C is separate its a different hard drive

lets rename the drives first before i star to confuse myself, right click and change the letters pls or treat me like an idiot and say what they are meant to be lol

so you deleted the E (free space)

does the partition E belong to the C drive or D drive? can you extend the C partition?

the Partition E (Free space) belongs to D (Requires extra space)

technically yes since there wouldnt be actual D, so youd have aot of unnalocated space which you can then probably format into a logical partition

yeah i just tried that it should work fine
