hard drive coolers, are they worth it?

my hdd are in floppy drives anyway lol. keeping the lower drive bays clear for airflow.

Yeah that's what I did but it cuts off proper airflow to the hd's :(

I have a HDAC coming from evercool to review...might be one answer for those who can't mount a hdd in the airflow path.

Should have results sometime later this month.

Or next month

Received a box today from Evercool, but no hdd cooler. Don't know for sure if more stuff is coming and I need to write 4 reviews this week so wouldn't have time to take a good look at it anyway.

More to come.

was a hdd cooler supposed to come in the box?

I thought so...one of the blower jobs (HDAC I believe); supposed to be quiet.

I understand the Evercool folks have been busy with Computex Taipei 2005 show so I may hear more/receive more stuff to review later.

wow that one HDD cooler is prolly the most expsensive and waste of money thing unless your HDD is bout to BRASH or always crashes.....lol things insaine...

Haven't seen one yet and haven't heard about pricing on most of their stuff.

HDD cooling ain't rocket science and just a little airflow across a drive will usually lower temps dramatically...moving my 80Gig Maxtor from an upper drive bay to behind the 120mm intake fan was worth ~20°C.

I've also suspended, glued, taped and crammed fans to move some air across drives.

The crazies out there can also water cool their hdd's and really spend some money.
