if you can think of anything to change please tell me going to buy in 3 days so help asap

You might want to take a look at the Xigmatek Elysium for the case.

Also if you are getting such a high end board and all that graphics power, why not get a i7 970. I would tell you to wait for Ivy bridge, but since you are getting this over the next 3 days I guess that isn't an option.

For the RAM maybe Mushkin Redline Ridgebacks

PSU: Maybe the Corsair AX1200 the extra efficiency could save you money in the long run, but Enermax 1250w is still a really good PSU.

thanks i will take it all into account.

Is this hardcore gaming or rendering or what? I'm puzzled why you opted for X58 if it was just gaming.

If you're going to put dual/tri GPU's in there, kit out the case with good fans, good airflow is important.

Do you already have the other peripherals i.e. keyboard, mouse, mousepad, optical drive.

And CPU Cooler? Why not just get the Noctua nh-d14 now, or the Watercooling kit now??

And try and get as big a case as possible with the best airflow possible

got keyborard mouse headphones optical, i have to wait for the water to come should be here in a week and going for a build that will play games for the next 5 years with no problems.

You mean as in actually just open the games and run at an acceptable frame-rate at any settings? Technology moves so fast dude, imagine using a 5 year old GPU for gaming now, you would be on minimum settings all the time. If you want to save money in the long run, buy cheaper components (ie 1155 now) and upgrade a little by little, it will be not only cheaper than having to completely re-build in 5 years, but you will always be playing at high settings
smile.gif

Even currently, 1155 is the highest performing gaming set up, and its also the cheapest. A 2600K will outperform nearly every other chip in nearly every game.

Also you may want to wait until the dust to settles on some of those sata 3 ssd's. There has been some reports on here about people having to send the new corsair and ocz drives back.

well i fell like just going all out on this since i feel that it takes about a year after a new CPU to come out for it to be stable with a good choice of motherboards. and BTW i still run a 8600gt for graphics

I think that the main Sandy Bridge issues were fixed with the B3 revision, there won't be that many more motherboards coming out on 1155 I think, at least not until around Q4 when Ivy Bridge is about to drop. That's mainly because the LGA 2011 socket is coming out in Q3 (successor to X58).

Already imo there are a very good selection of motherboards out.

Also how is you 8600GT holding up? What kind of fps/@what settings are you playing games?

Realy? im pretty sure my nearly 5 year old 8800GT 256mb (not even the fair chunk better 512mb version) plays 90% of new games on med/high (civ5, dungeon siege 3, duke nukem forever, the witcher 2) it would be more if but the 256mb vram holds it back compared to the 512 versions and that was the bang for buck card at the time. If i had sprung the extra for the 512mb or the 640mb 8800GTS i would be doing even better.

The only recent games i cant play on at least med/high @ 1080p are GTA4 and crysis 2 (both due to only having a core2duo + the lowly 256MB 8800GT instead of the 512mb or the 640mb GTS ie lack of VRAM), my friends q9650 and SLI 640mb 8800 GTS can play them both reasonably well for the age of the cards and the 640mb gtx was release around the same time as the 8800gt.

SOOO a single TOP end card in 4-5 years will still be doing well, let alone 3 of them aslong as the new games have the driver support. (saying that sli 640mb GTS's still get good boosts in SLI over a single card of 40-80%)

huh.gif

also i think the new cpu will be very expensive and well for price i don't think it will worth it spending 800 dollars on a cpu that is only 20% better than the 300 dollar one

How do you get on with like Mafia II, Arma II, and Metro 2033? Good to see its still value for money even now.

Curious as to when you stopped being able to max everything? Thanks

Anyway, I'm not saying its not possible to run most games at medium. 3/4/Fire 6970s may do fine in 5 years, they may do crap.

In the same way, your 880GTS could have been poor at playing games today if certain things had happened to the GPU market.

Either way, buying a top end card occasionally, or a high-mid-range card i.e. 570, is a far more cost effective and better performance wise option. You will be playing max settings for a lot longer, and it may easily work out more cost effective when you factor in that games look better at max.

You can't speculate properly on the market and GPU performance in 5 years time, but its far easier to buy a card now for the next 2.5 years, and a card for the final 2.5 years in the said time. There could easily be a limiting factor. In your case its RAM, in a few years time it could be Shader Model, DirectX version/an alternative method may come out, or 3D could become the norm. You don't know. That's why.

BD is coming out soon with their top of the line 8 core cpu priced around 300 USD, Cheaper then Sandy Bridge and right on par with the i7 950. Honestly it seems like you didnt do much research and just was like oh well im going to wake up and spend all this cash on a new computer xD. This is definantly the wrong time to be buying something like that esp if the talked about performance is 1.5x better then the current on the market top dog for Intel. x58 is dead bro i would have ATLEAST opted for 1155 with a z68 board. for even less then what you would be paying for that assassin... Idk where you hear this 800 dollar price tag but im sure prices will be competing with current i7 charts.

Just my 2 cents.

BD is 50% faster than i7-950 and on par with the i7-2600K. But other than that I most certainly agree with you.

Surely if this is such a hardcore gaming build you would want the latest and greatest stuff?.. Personaly i'd get a 2600k with a gtx580 and z58 mobo.. As others have said x58 is dying now and is kinda useless unless your getter a 6 core cpu

now I remember why I havent gone intel or SB lol not enough sata 6 ports for me. But I do love the looks of the G1 series boards.
