HAF X orientation question....

Hi everyone

First I'll say what I want to do and what I have as of now:

-I want to build my own system in the summer =D

-I so far I have my case (a CM HAF X) and PSU (a Corsair HX650W)

-for now i have an old HP computer that i took apart in there and a 8500GT... its shit, but that'll change in the summer

Right now the case is in this normal up-right position, but I want to put the case sideways, so that the glass side is up. I have the computer on my desk and i have the space, and i really don't need the CD drives (i never use them) plus i want to change the air flow in the case. They questions i have are:

-->since the cables are managed through the back will there be a problem? like crushing the cables??? (if so i will put together a nice "stand" that will basically support all the weight on the edges, which are strong and there won't crush the cables)

-->second i want to ask if the following arrangement of the fans make sense. (when on its side) i'll have the side 200mm fan blowing up and out (which makes sense to me cuz heat rises) and i'll have the front 230mm and top 2 200mm fans blowing in, and lastly the rear 140mm fan blowing out, since theres where the CPU cooler will be blowing the hot air.

any feedback would be great

THANKS GUYS

The Haf x should be able to hold together if you put it sideways. But if you are going to do that, I recommend you take the side panel off.

Once it's laid down, have fun trying to pick it back up again if fully loaded.

You will get a boat load of dust intake on the floor, but the fan configuration is good apart from that.

Careful you don't tread on it.

Remember you have an exaust fan that will get very dusty facing up should you not clean it weekly/ fortnightly. Hot dust... need i say more

LOL, don't worry i know i have pick it up, even with everything inside it

umm i think the dust intake should be the same, since the case is on a desk, and when i lay it down, it'll still be on the desk... so :S yea.. but i guess i'll just clean it more frequently

as for the exhaust, it comes standard with the top (when standing up right) fan blowing up, so i was thinking that when its on its side, and that fan will be kinda in the same predicament...

thanks for the input guys, (this forum is great

What upside down? XD Try putting a disc in the optical drive tray *plop... plop... plop...* or resting on the side panel? (would get toasty i should think)

lol well I'd assume one would install it correct side up in an upside down case. and I was being silly

I know they will work on their side
