H110 enough for 4.5-4.7Ghz on 4770K

So do you thing H110 will be enough for these clocks on 4770K?

I have one installed in a Carbide 500R just waiting for other components to be purchased and installed but now it seems Haswell is running hot.

Remember it's not the speed but the voltages that create heat. I believe on Haswell anything above 1.2/1.25 volts creates a LOT of heat. Basically if you can achieve your target speed within these voltages you should be ok with your H110.

Hope this helps :)

yeah tom pointed out in games 1.2 v and temps will be under 70C, games dont stress the cpu anywhere near to stress tests.

Thanks. That's what I was getting out of Toms and other reviews too, but a lot of people seem to be saying a custom loop is really needed to keep temps under control, which just isn't doable for me with this build.

Fingers crossed I get a chip that can reach the speeds I want under those volts.

i have had 4.8GHz (STABLE) under an H110 with push/pull, but my ram will only run at 1600.
but i think i was very lucky with my chip. (lottery winner!)

i have dropped it down the 4.6GHz, and got the ram at 1800, as the summer is on us and it it going to get hot!!! i will probably knock it back to 4.8 in the winter. :)

i did get just over 5GHz, with 4gb of ram at 1333, and booted, but it didnt last long, and as it is an expensive hobby, i do not want to kill the hassy just yet! :(

What are your temps like?

I can't run push pull in my case unfortunately so will just have the one set of fans.

Also hoping to be able to run My ram at 2400 if I can. Fingers crossed I win the chip lottery!

Its all down to your chip mate, there is such a wide range of what these cpu's are doing its POINTLESS comparing to others till you have worked with your own.

As Tom and Dug are saying, there is a lot of feedback regarding Haswell that there is a huge variety in chips. You're just gonna have to see what your chip is capable of without pushing the voltages so high as to warrant your cooler ineffective.

Best of luck with the silicon lottery!

haswell will not run 2400 ram OC'd.

I've read the contrary elsewhere though that 2400 was quite stable, so I know it's luck of the draw but here's hoping!

My 4670k at 4.2GHz is perfectly capable of running 2400MHz ram. The memory controller is rated up to 2666MHz. ASUS ran 4770k at 7GHz with ram at 4100MHz so I'm sure we can run 2400MHz with ease ;)

What are your temps like DiceHunter? How are you finding the Sabertooth?

I'm yet to pick up my Chip/Board/RAM and probably won't be for another 3-4 weeks unfortunately, but really looking forward to this new build.

4.6GHz here with 4x4GB 2133MHz ram and in games 70c maximum on H100i push/pull 30% fan speed. I haven't tweaked/fine tuned anything as of yet and I won't be until I get my loop set up with a MO-RA3 420.

Also, maybe I got unlucky, 1.36v for 4.6GHz...

I'm on 1.30v for 4.60GHZ on my 4770K on a H80i, Silicon lottery is a real annoyance.

The temps are great considering all the people screaming the 4770K is the end of the world temp wise lol.
Idle I've seen as low as 26'c, This is at 4.60GHZ with 1.30 vcore, And max temps of mid 80's using OCCT with AVX enabled but real world usage in games and intense apps rarely sees over 55-60'c.
The Sabertooth is awesome, Really easy to work with and it looks brilliant :)

I recently got a 4770k and a z87 sabertooth with an h100i setup as push. I tried overclocking it up to 4.4Ghz and with an ambient temp of 32 degrees the temps were too high (90-100 degrees). So unless you got luckier with your chip I believe that you need something better than the h100. I'm seriously thinking of deliding this chip.
