Hey hey everybody!

Right, I just grabbed myself Guitar Hero 3 for PC. But I have a little problem.

For some odd reason they have locked the game to XP or Vista only.

So I cannot install because I am on Server 2003.. for some ghey reason it cannot see that Server is based on XP.

Anywhoo.. anyone know of a way to force it to install? I have tried to run it in "XP mode" doesn't work.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You use Server 2003 on your main PC? Why?

I think it can be cut down really well and so run faster.

No idea about getting i to run, but until you get it to work, i recommend "frets on fire" a great freeware game, which is an almost direct rip of GH. you can even use the guitar

The reason I use Server is because is has sweet performance when compared to Vista and even XP.

And yeah, easily stripped down to nothing. Idle I have Server 2003(bare in mind it is basically XP) running 70mb of RAM. Impressive if you ask me... means I have like 2GB for games. This is why I feel sorry for you lot who moved to Vista thinking "ooooooOooo, wow it looks pretty.." Looks arn't everything guys!

300MB ram Idle... OUCH!

But yeah, Frets on Fire was awesome.. but I just wanted the real think, you know?

I shall keep looking.. but it is strange why they would lock a game down to only XP and Vista.. not even let it install on Server or 64bit systems.

Maybe try a GH forum, or the support people. Doubt it will work, but maybe.

I have searched so much.. seems not many people have the same problem..

What I am working on at the moment is an .MSI editor.

So I can delete the line in the MSI file so when I run it, it won't search the OS.

Or at least that is what I am planning.. hard part is finding the actions.

Oh yeah!

If anyone has the same problem I have "hacked" the MSI file so it cna now install on any Windows OS.

Edit2: If anyone wants the patched MSI PM me or post here... just in case someone is having the same problem.
