GTX780TI or GTX970/980

My 2p worth - if I was in your position and had a brand new unopened card that I could return with no hassle and get a full refund, and then spend less money on a faster card with more memory and newer technology that would also save me money on the power bill, then I'd be a fool to consider sticking to what I already had. All IMHO only.

Ya i would do this as well. Saving money but getting more performance and all the new features. Its worth doing even if you have to pay for return shipping you still end up saving money.

Indeed all comes down to personal taste, Would be a very boring world if we all liked the same thing :)

Everyone does like the same things.
In products we like performance at a decent price.
At work we like to be respected and feel needed.
At home we like to feel loved and cherished.

We really only differ in the aesthetics of things, and in that we even differ from ourselves at different points in time. Tastes change as we mature.

I have found in my travels that people really are all the same everywhere you go. The exception would be of course mentally ill persons.

"Its worth doing even if you have to pay for return shipping you still end up saving money."

If you buy from Amazon Prime, you have no return shipping. :)

The way I look at it is that I would not be satisfied either way even if I was to send it back and then wait around for the release of the current one or even after that when they start being released with aftermarket coolers which we all know is not going to be very long which has always been the downside when purchasing graphics cards is there is no way of making it shall we say "future proof" other than to hope game developers don't have the brains to keep pushing out such demanding games like Crysis 3 which is not going to happen on such a massive scale over the next year.

Yes there was the benefits of it being more energy-efficient which is downright bloody awesome but I just see myself getting the reference model and then feeling butthurt when they decide to release a new one the following month with twice the less power consumption and more power so I'm going to give it a couple of months and watch what comes to the market and if anything tickles my fancy I will just take out 780TI and give it to my son.

I know I could save myself quite a bit of money by sending it back but I am not that short on cash to feel out-of-pocket although I do appreciate everyone's opinion as you definitely have some valid points.

If you can afford the depreciation I'd keep the Ti, then upgrade later when better 9xx cards arrive... but if you see resale value at upgrade time as important then I'd get rid of the 780Ti for a 980 if you can.
Nvidias new pricing strategy and AMD potentially releasing a new competitor is gonna hurt last gen high end values more than usual Imo.

But like we all know, its never an ideal time to upgrade and owning the latest greatest kit costs £%£!

Nice choice to be having to make though hehe... ;)

Return it and save 100 pounds or return it and buy 2x 970s for a similar price. Either way, you'll come out on top if you send it back.

Best first-world problem ever :D

I've got a Ti and it's wicked. I do believe Nvidia will be bringing a 980Ti out in time though... that'll be something special...

I sold my EVGA 780ti SC ACX and bought 2 gtx 980 SC cards. Last I heard Nvidia stated that they were discontinuein the 780ti which is gonna kill resale prices and we are already seeing 780ti cards priced at just over £300 with non reference coolers that's a huge price drop.

Economically your better off ditching the ti and grabbing the 980 and saving £100 on the card and all that money on your electricity bill
