Numbers look good but all of that could be smoke and mirrors.

Review?

Passive mosfet cooler = Win.

They're both 1gb.

Acually they both are exactly the same other than the fact that they have different coolers.

Some of the crap they come out with.

I think the next time I cut the cheese I shall call it that, god I hate EVGA.

FTW edition I ask you. My mate's 790i was a FTW. It never did work. FTL would have been more apt.

yeah nothing really to notice of my £117 Inno 3D cards are folding stable at 900 core

That will be because your Inno3D cards are the same, only less metrosexual and don't carry a dumbo sticker with ZOMFGFTWSUPERPOOPEREDISHUN on them.

I doubt the center fans would be much good for triple SLI though. Sadly the 460 can't be tripled. Bad move by Nvidia IMO. They're so cheap that there's no reason not to if you have enough slots.

Had a discussion about this yesterday with Stepy. He reakoned it was because Nvidia did not want to offer something for sale that would uproot its flagship card (the 480GTX). A very good point and it could be the reason, but I think it was just literally to keep the cost of manufacturing down. I don't know specifically how SLI works (though it is very basic and primitive seeing as I was using it in 1998 !) but the controllers could cost more for triple lanes and there's the extra port on the card. All of which cost if you are pinching pennies.

It is a shame though.

yeah i totally think its that and cost cuttin to get there 'budget' card down nearer ati's offerings but beating them on performance

2 1gb 460's are faster than a 480 (not sure about the 768's)

but when u look @ ocuk's £117 gtx460 get 2 for £234 for stupidly good performance

indeed

they did it for the 5770s as well

the reference models support quad-fire but then after a couple of months they all got refreshed with only 1 crossfire connector only allowing 2 way crossfire mainly because 2 5770s is on par with a 5870 or in some cases beats it

Trifire is only really good for benchmarks and very few games. In some cases it performs worse than two 5770s. When I got mine I spent aages looking up reviews and the best review I found scaled something mad like 30 pages covering both dual and triple. In the end I decided that £240 was a darn good price (in January I add !) for a pair, but £360 was a bit radio rental for hardly any improvement.

I think SLI is supported a little better on triple cards, but Crossfire will scale in everything without drivers. It sometimes needs a profile, but you can usually fool it by renaming your .exe to another game that has a profile

Tri sli has definitely improved, but normal crossfire scales very well. The problem with all these many gpu jobbies is that at least one card has no room to breath...the fan really does need an open port to intake in with.

YEA! i am going to get one and use it as a physX card. my 9600 alpha dog is running dry with the new physX apps. this EVGA should be a fine replacement!
