GTX 900/Maxwell announcement this month?

A 5 to 10% increase doesnt sound like much to us but im sure a lot of people that are still 2 generations behind, these new cards will serve them very well, and to be fair, it wont be a bad product at all, it just not meeting some of the requirements that people want in this thread.

Also I think the best card is actually a second hand or perhaps new? 7970 (if you can get a decent one), they actually arent that far behind with the most recent drivers.

So the 280x then? ;)
There is a real lack of choice of them at the moment it seems. I'm guessing we'll get a new version soon, maybe based on the new 285.

I have a somewhat faulty one and tbh, for 1080p they are still excellent.

well I was always a firm believer that anything like a 290x or 780ti was not needed for 1080p yet I still got it haha. But all in all I dont regret getting the 290x's and putting them under water, they are doing great on my new 4k monitor. both of them being able to OC past 1200Mhz doesnt hurt either ha! pity one of them tops out at 1287mhz, the other could prob go past 1350.

also I wasnt really much of a fan of the 280x, if given the choice I would have gottenthe 7970. dont ask me why I dont know...

and unless someone is upgrading from below the GTX 500 series or the HD6000 series, this would not be worth the upgrade if at all. 20nm please come asap, my laptops 680ms cant do 4k at all

I can always downclock my 280x and pretend its a non ghz edition 7970. Drivers for the 7970/680 were an excellent example of driver development. The performanc gains from launch have been amazing imo.

agreed, their driver an software department has been making terrific changes, feel bad for them though, as they are still being hated on for drivers by Nvidia fanboys, even though they are doing a great job.

Oh and take your phony 7970 and run along :nutkick: its not a 7970!! (same chip o-o)

oh, Im so sorry, didnt realise when the poor thing was going through. what happend to it anyways? It should be barely a 10-11 months old according to release date.

some artifacting and the cooler vibrates when horizontal. I'll RMA it (if I can) when I've got my new rig up. Its a shame as the cooler is fantastic (70c is the highest it got on stock clocks) and it hadn't reached its OC potential yet

ahh, well most certainly RMA it, get yourself a real 7970 haha. Too bad the 280x wont be able to use all the latest software from AMD.

Wierd though it is claimed that the EVGA 780ti Kingpin can OC up t0 1.85ghz

Yes it's skipped

what about this then? :

Interesting email from Catzilla this morning.

Dear User.

We've just released Catzilla 1.3 with new hardware detection:

the latest graphics cards and processors (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745, NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN Z, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870, 880...)

support of AMD Carrizo

caching of GPU I2C devices to speed-up the scan process

support of more NVIDIA GM107 and GM108 models

and many more...

I guess the added new cards based on the chip GM2XX but maybe nvidia won't skip 8 series and will keep the progression going.

what about this then? :

They still need to update their info, That will of been written before the new news from Nvidia was released.

I can't see Nvidia releasing info saying they are chaning their naming scheme and then a few days later saying "Errr actually we take it back"
