GTX 900/Maxwell announcement this month?

The new chips aren't expected to do much more than the current ones. There will essentially be a refresh, the new chips will be more power efficient but I don't think that the 980 will be more than 5% faster than the 780ti

According to some "leaks" the 880/980 will not be competing with the 780 Ti but rather the 780 so we might be seeing a 880 Ti/980 Ti.

Some news from overclockers.co.uk about the upcoming 900 series cards.

Gibbo is one of the main staff members that interacts with the community and is also one of the main buyers at the OCUK store, He just let this out -

the 800 were OEM only, this has been known for a while!

I read that Gibbo comment, and thought to myself.....surely he's joking!

I don't think he is, Even a friend of mine who works at scan said and I quote "Unless you need more vram I wouldn't bother getting the 900 series if you have a 780 Ti or more".

Gibbos comment just validates what my mate said.

well ill just wait till these come out and get the 780Ti or maybe even 2 of them

its such a shame really, it seems that technological breakthroughs are wider and wider apart makes you think we've exhausted all options

Comes down to 1 fact, Milking, why keep advancing the tech in large portions when you can slow it down and release 5% increases every year, Just business really.

I guess the VRAM increase is nice though. Not going to lie, 3gb is becoming increasingly easy to use up :I.

-edit- still happy I bought my 780TI though now. Glad I didn't wait as it sounds like I've not missed anything special.

It's still on the 28nm process, Even getting 5% out of it would be amazing.

Oh well, means i'll have more money for Christmas, unless AMD bring cards out worth buying.

People will get excited about 10% though, look how many people buy the 780Ti over a 780.

makes me wonder how hawaii XTX will sell haha, though the 780ti does give an extra few FPS over the 780, its up to the individual user whether or not its worth it. I personally think its just for bragging rights and having nice things ;)

why I said, it is up to the individual user whether or not it is worth it. Covered my backside ;)

to be honest if I didnt get my 290x's I probably would have just gone the 780, OC them under water and Sli them.

I agree, I just find it funny when people with a 780Ti or 290x say that 10% is anything to be exited about when they paid £100 more than a 290 or 780 for 5-10% more performance.

exactly, especially when there were some 290 cards that were able to unlock into the 290x variant too

Also I think the best card is actually a second hand or perhaps new? 7970 (if you can get a decent one), they actually arent that far behind with the most recent drivers.
