GTX 680 vs 7850CF

This would be so much easier to call if I could find some 7850 crossfire benches but I can't find a single score. Quite frankly it bothers the heck out of me, I take some pride in my ability to search the internet. Can anyone for the life of them find me some numbers?!?!? All I could find was a mixed 7870CF 7850 bench, a 7870CF bench I could project onto the 7850 numbers, and an incredibly blurry youtube video that had 7850CF benches but no specific settings.

Yes, 7850CF cannot be expanded(2 gpu max). Yes its prolly gonna draw another 100w over the 680.

I still think a valid comparison can be made between the two setups as they both run about the same cost and use the same power connectors. So let me hear your thoughts, which would you get and why? Which wouldn't you get and why not?

Edit: Projected 7850 3dmark11(X)= 3247

7870 crossfire efficiency (1.961): http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/4...eference_video_cards_in_crossfire/index3.html

TTL's 680 bench= 3185

hmmm thats a tough one really, the new 7xxx series does very well in crossfire, but you cant deny the fact that 580 is currently best single gpu card, hmm.... id go with 680 because you can always add a second one in maybe a year or so, and amd lost the main key feature which was the eyefinity, im sure aamd will soon release the 7990 to counter the 680 which then will force 690 released etc.etc. a 6870 is more than enough for me :3

also there is a good 7970 to 680 comparison somewhere inc 2/3/4 sli and crossfire, but id ont know where XDD

nvm here the link

680 would fold okayish once the F@H client is updated.

All hardware will fold one day, one way or another

Got to consider these things

Being as no big organisation likes underdogs, AMD would get less optimisation.

There's a crowd of us that really would say any suggested, suitable, single card over any xfire/sli setup, tbh.

The artificial benchies can preach as much as they like, and we accept the situation has made massive strides over the years - but the less stress you get with a single card completely out ways using two or more.
