Gtx 670 High temps + Noise

Something defo wrong there, When my 7970 was stock i would have the fan about 30% and hit 70c maxing BF3 and Witcher 2 out. Doesnt sound right at all if your hitting 86c with 100% fan

Don't tamper with the card, just go through NewEgg if you reckon it's faulty.

Try some newly released drivers too. You never know, there could be some fan regulation wizardry in there !

Drivers wouldnt do it, The fans maxing out and it stills hitting 86c. And judging by him saying its loud, the fans obviosly hitting its RPM. Check the paste if you want, but it would be easier to just get a replacement from the shop you bought it

If they do indeed max out. Fans can be noisey on their low rpm. Voltage settings, rpms, all of which are held in ....

670 does have a small cooler, and it's strange how Tom wasn't allowed to "pop the hood" on the ref 670 for a look. Do these have weedy coolers then?

There might be someting wrong with your card, I have been running my 670 for about a week @ 99% while folding 24/7. The highest temp I have seen is 82c and I do not hear much noice at all.

It's the reference cards...

Seriously they are cheap fucking garbage, RMA it right away, I got a Palit 670 ref, and the fan let out this horrible loud buzzing @ around 50%, google '670 buzzing sound' lots of people get it too..

Honestly, go with an aftermarket, you won't regret it. I got the ASUS Direct TOP 670, and the difference is night and day, when the fans are at 100% on this thing its quieter than an idle reference..

I would have to say that honestly you don't know. Well from here we don't. First off we don't know if the card generally runs hot, we don't know what the layout and air flow of your case so what i say to you is check the air low around the card make sure there is nothing blocking the intake of the fan and if overclocked de-clock and see how it performs if none of these are the reasons instead of loosing the warranty on it just send it back and get another.
