Hi guys i have just upgraded my rig on a budget but now have money i didnt think i had so the question is shall i buy a gtx 580 now or is there something coming out soon and i will be gutted for spending £350 on a 580 i only just bought my 6870 hawk for god sake lol i am also going to my a new monitor either a 24" or 27" at 1920x1080 will a single 580 max out games on this size screen as i only have a 19" 1440x900 monitor now and my 6870 maxes out all games any help would be great

At 1080 the 580 isnt going to struggle with anything, ive seen the witcher 2 with uber processing on running reasonably on a 580. If you are getting a new monitor anyway and your card maxes at everything at the moment then why not see how it performs on the new monitor before you decide whether to upgrade or not?

No one really knows how the next gen cards are going to perform this early on. Its going to be at least 2 or 3 months until the first AMD cards are released and Nvidia is in no hurry to release anything until their position at the top is threatened. The 28 nm node has had some trouble anyway so its unlikely you will see anything beating the 580 any time soon if you do decide to go for it.

I play at 1920 x 1200 and my 580 eats anything I throw at it. My 580 is not reference design and is factory overclocked, so it performs amazingly at all of the current games.

yup a 580 will destroy most games I myself run a 26 inch monitor at 1920 x 1200 on a non reference 570 and it doest struggle on anything either. I get 55-60fps in BF3 maxed out

No need for anything more than a 580 at the moment, so there is no point waiting, especially if you're at 1080p. Plus with the kind of OC room it has, you can get the thing running pretty cool.
