gts250 or 4850

i need a new card for my new build and i aint got 1 so its these 2 4850 or gts250 i was thinking the gts250 coz when the new ati series come out ill get 1 of them so i thought that it would be used as a physx card or shouldnt i bother thanks for replys

gts250 is basically an 8800gt so get the 4850

I disagree with tom.

The gts250 is a slightly improved 9800gtx+. A 9800gtx+ beats the hd4850 in some things, loses in others. However for the fact that it supports Physx, has superior driver-level game support (i.e "The way it's meant to be played")

I'd go for the GTS250- it runs cooler, quieter and is just as fast as the hd4850.

While a GTS 250 is a re-re-re-re *10 minutes later* -reiterated G92 core, it holds up very well against the Radeon HD 4850. You wouldn't really go wrong with either so long as you aren't playing any games that particularly favour either brand. My suggestion like the others would be to pay that small amount more for the GTX 260 (216) or HD 4870 1GB.

if u want a cheap budget card to last u a while go for a 3870 it is basically the same card as a 4850 anyway at half the price!!

im gonna get a 4870 i think at a 1680x1050 res will last a while anyway by then the 5 series be down in price

Agreed, without the PhysX, that I seem to find increasingly slipped into games, sometimes without telling the gamer, I'd refrain from calling the AMD variants quality.

However, since I believe ur gonna stick with XP, the thought of quality goes out the window as ur sticking with Dx9.

Going raw fps for ur cash, ur better off with the AMD card.

Some artist came up with it.... some decades ago. It's called Between, iirc.

That's as much as I can remember, it's been a while (15 years maybe), perhaps it can be googled.

Seemed pretty fitting. Looks like Borg, but predates them I think.
