GSkill Memory & TCCD Memory in General

I read the topic about high voltages on TCCD memory, so i tested with CAS2.0. And it worked!!

It seems that the TCCD memory dont like high voltages with high timings, i get lots of errors with CAS2.5 @3V and zero with CAS2.0 @3V.

So lowering the CAS latency gave me the oppertunity to play with more Vddr.

Final timings used were 2-3-3-7 @ 3v 1T.

Great discovery i guess..

lol as soon as my new DFI nf4 turns up i'll give it a shot and report back.

The memory used was the PC4400, but can't confirm yet if it was the LC,LE or LA memory.

have yet to try mine (LE) at cas 2, may whack the booster in and have a go later on, this was actually discovered a few months ago on XS, so nothing really new, but interesting none the less.

Be careful tho as tccd chips get very hot on 3v+ as they draw a lot of current compared to other chips

Hi BAcon,

I was thinking that i will probalbly makes a metal frame to fit 2 60mm Vantec Stealth fans in. Get some air flow going.

I think the GSkill RAM is a great thread to discuss, thanks for posting Matrix.

I have the LC variety, but A8N-Sli MOBO won't run 1T timings above 230HTT, so I am stuck with a 5:4 divider at present 2-2-2-5 @ 212FSB (CPU @ 270FSB) which is good.

I think the more we all understand about how these react and what the benefits are of the various generations (LA, LC, LE etc...)the better it will be to make informed decisions of which one will suit your needs.

Personally, I want the highest FSB @ 1T commands - until my MOBO BIOS is updated I can't change anything, which is good because I'd like to see what others have achieved with theirs (DAZBOOTS has RAM on steroids with a moster modded MOBO).

The results/experiences I'd like to see is the best results we have achieved with 1T command and which variety was used.

Please remember to state if you MOBO has been modified, this will help us all make better decisions about what to choose and how to set-up.

Happy tweaking - I will post more results when the new a8n-sli BIOS is released (currently 1003).

Cheers

dude dont try to run tccd at 2-2-2-x timings at high speeds, its not made to scale high with these timings, give it some 2.5-3-3-x goodness and see it scale above 280/290 at 1T

also keep the voltage low to start with, for example my gskill love 2.6v, over this they dont clock as well...though i need a dfi to get the most out of them as i think my neo 2 tops out at 270ish

nice idea, trans am on XS actually made a wind tunnel for his ram outa cardboard lol for his VX, a 120mm fan blowing down a tunnel located over the dimms

worked well

I already have vantec stealth 60mm blowing directly on to ram, ram temps read around 27degrees idle, 32 max under load (superpi).

Compared to nearly 45 degrees under load without it.

Luckily the case temps stay at ambient thanks to 6800GT's using Artic cooling Rev5 coolers which blow hot air out of the case. I am think of water cooling the Sli 6800GT's, but have not yet decided, mainly because I am undecided on the system to use - I am not a big fan of big pipes and feel that 8mm id is sufficient. My last set up was wet and chilly chips, and it worked great (cooled 6800GT 425/1200 to less than 40 degrees under load) but it looked like a dogs dinner. I am not a fane of internal systems, hell with Sli u aint got room

So the jury is out, but with the Artic Rev 5 temps max out at 54degrees under load at 416/1120 which si the best stable OC I can get in Sli.

The ram works great at the 2.5-3-3-6 @ 242 (CPU running at 290x10 but crappy divider used coz of the 1T issue). Thanks for the advice :)

EDIT - NOW RUNNING SAME RAM SPEED 242 BUT WITH 2-3-3-6 RAM IS AT 3V NICE :D

Which version

Of the different versions of Gskill memory which variety is the best one?

I looked at the LA 4800 & the LE 4400. The 4400 had slighlty tighter timings, surely by lossening them to the same as the LA variety they would also hit the 4800 mark. Or have I got it wrong.

I got the le but my mobo dont like above 280 but the mem will memtest at 300fsb 2.5,3,3,7 at 2.6 volts
