Graphics horsepower?

Hey! Another random question thats probably been answered, but i`m dressing it up a different way coz the way i`m approaching the subject is slightly different...I think.

I know SLI doesnt do much *from reading* at low resolutions. I`m limited to 1280x1024 for now, but I`ve been wondering about how SLI works.

If I had 2 7800GTs for example.I`d have a total of 40 pixel pipes, 512 memory, 14 vertex pipes and 32 ROPS in total. Not to mention 2 cores processing. Would this setup decimate any current single card in actual gaming, regardless of resolution? AA and AF settings can be anything for this idea. Why is SLI limted at lower resolutions? is it CPU lmited? *That bits probably online..will go trawling*

Would this setup be unsupassed in actual gaming compared to any other single card?

Cheers!

Without doubt at 1280*1024 you can have full everything switched on with SLI - you can with single card but in games like FEAR and X3 you will feel the difference.

There is a maximum framerate for each game that is dictated by the power provided by the CPU - SLI enables you to reach that figure in any game at lower resolutions with full eye candy.

Of course this is also dictated by games, they need to support SLI (or wait for next nvidia driver set).

Cheers
