Graphics card for 32" LCD HD???

hi

i was planning to build a media center pc and hook it up to my LCD tv. I would like to play Blu-ray and other hd content but have no idea what card i need for this sort of res? I would like to hook it up to a HDMI input btw!

any help is appreciated

p.s. how fast a processor would i need (roughly)? i keep up to date with this stuff in general but have no idea what demands a 32" would have on a pc

The actual resolution of a large LCD TV is actually rather low.

many are comparable to say a 17-19'' monitor

Well most 8 and up series can do HD. Is this for HTPC or a gaming pc etc.

Some of the high end cards can be fairly noisy so a passive 9 series etc may be better.

It does depend on you budget too. The 9500 -9600 are about the 70 pound mark. but a gtx260 can be got for the 150 which would be better for all round use.

plus the G200 series has be option of running audio out through the card too.

its based in our kitchen to be used to play music/hidef dvds/check email/internet browsing etc. so im looking at a budget 9500gt and then to get a separate sound card.

ive currently hooked it up to my tv and the edges are cut off, if i try and up the res it cant copeand reverts back to the old one!! Grrr. This is all off some ancient onboard graphics so i didnt expect too much.

I heard that the ATI 4xxx series was good for use in media pc's.

Aye, ATI cards are good for HTPCs. I run mine from a 2600xt still, runs blu-ray and most highdef stuff I've downloaded.

Only thing I've seen it laggy/jumpy on was a streaming film I was playing via iTunes, but I think that was more my

ty WiFi link, which has been replaced with Homeplug network.

Why not just buy a motherboard with built in hdmi and onboard gfx? Something like this will be fine, I use it to watch 720p stuff all the time.

Just make sure you check the resolution of your screen, 32" may be 1280x720 or full HD 1900x1200. ANd how much you gona spend?
