Hey Guys,

I want to get back into folding, so have set up the GPU Tracker on my mine rig, to run while i'm at work etc.....

As I have my 580's in SLI, do I need to remove the bridge or just disable it in the Nvidia control Panel???? Also when I game I obviously want to game in SLI, so is it ok to keep disabling and enabling???

Cheers guys

Hay

What he said /\ great to have you back

Also guess should I have ticked the -advmethods on the gpu??

Also am only running 1 GPU as the temps are pretty high

LMAO

I think I am just going to fold with the CPU, getting some scary temps with 1 GPU folding Top card (Folding) 90 degrees, Bottom card (not Folding) 60 ish degrees.

You should let the bottom one Fold in regards to temps as it goes up, but you know that

Naa just leave it as it is for the GPU

I had the bottom card folding first, but both cards were in the 80's then, doesn't this seem high???

1st off welcome back to folding

As far as the temps, try using MSI Afterburner and setting up custom fan profile to control those card temps. All my F@H GPU fans are controlled by Afterburner....

I usually have it set to run around 90% fan at 70C

I think they run higher. If they're stable it's fine.

Two 580 will give you some mega points. Maybe install a side 120/140mm fan directed at the cards?

Thanks

I have just installed afterburner, and am wondering why when I set fans speed manually I can only get it up to 85% even if I type it in, it will go back to 85% (slider is fully maxed)

Same happened in EVGA Precision.

Welcome Back Hay, I can't really offer advice on your 580 setup - sorry, and as a false double negative, I am soon going to have Tom on top of me

but then again it is valentines day.

Thanks

Sounds like a bios limitation, the early 460's were limited to 40% IIRC.

You might look for a modded bios for your cards or check with somebody else with 580's

Did you get the beta 2.1 version of Afterburner?

Using afterburner 2.0.0, But also is the same with EVGA Precision. I have googled the 85% fan issues, and apparently most of the 500 series cards are like that.

Also I have no GPU folding at the moment, and haven't for a couple of hours and my GPU temps are still 77 - 69, they normally idle in the 50's, I'm guess my room temp have something to do with it, as its warm in here, but not boiling.

Its a speed error, the max Afterburner gets too (85%) is actually 100% on the card.

In otherwords AB is just reading it wrong

What would be the reason for the high temps when not folding, pc has been idle for couple of hours now and still the temps are 78 topcard 70bottom, they normally idle around 50 ish

Either ambient temp is high anyway or one of the cards is still loading somewhere.

What GPU usage does GPUZ report on each card? Does a reboot solve it?
