Interesting that you should ask.....

I was thinking of starting a thread on why peeps should switch to the V7 Client. First and foremost is PPD (I am the points whore after all

)

I have been running all my machines for well over a week now and seen PPD rise to 240K+ PPD from around 175-180K on the console clients.

My i7 950 with 2x 560TI's pulls a steady 63K+ and the i7 920 and i7 950 with 2x 460's run around 56K PPD. This is way better PPD that when -bigadv wu's were available.

All the cpu WU's have been A4 and A5 core, no A3 cores.

I recommend that you give it a try for awhile, setting up the slots is different than before but still similar. There is a good sticky thread at FF in the v7 Client section on setting up the slots and switches. Pickster has mentioned which to use for cpu. My recommendation is slightly different in that I use client-type advanced and max-packet-size big. I have had a bigadv WU with v7 and it cost me arount 7K PPD from the normal 80xx WU's.

Set your gpu slots to client-type advanced to get the big 5187 point WU's, this helps the cpu PPD as the 76xx WU's use almost no cpu cycles and get a better PPD also;)

For some reason my PPD was worse when using the V7 client. I haven't had it run for a whole day though, so that might be the problem.

The PPD stated in V7 needs some explination.....

It is only accurate if the client has been running continously. If it has restarted or been paused it is all messed up until a new WU starts and runs a a few frames.

The PPD reporting fix is the priority for the next v7 release.

AFAIK none of the PPD monitoring apps work with v7.

Ah, that's good to know as I was thinking there was something wrong. I will start the V7 client tomorrow and run it for at least a day and see how many points I get.

be sure to configure the cpu slot with advanced and big as stated above on the 80xx WU's you should see 33K+ PPD with that 2600K @4G or so....

Hmmm the first re-boot and that's after i started using the v7 client

but it IS running without problems now , fingers crossed !

copy paste problem thread....

Could someone make a SS because i can't find this option

Well so far its a POS , i had 2 Blue screens NO BSOD but "hardware failure" ,

so i will finish the last WU's on this client and going back to tha GPU tracker.........

Will do some testing with different programs and clients for cpu-folding over the next two weeks.

Started a 2600k with the gputracker and folding steady at first shot at 4.5ghz.

But i can tell yah,the ubuntu linux install with 6.34 client is folding happily for 9 months on my i7-970,only stopped when i reboot once or twice a month for maintenance. That must be reliable enough.
