Gpu after stopping with mining

Hi all, a friend of my is stopping with mining and he is offering to sell his GPU(r9 290 for €250). I'm not sure what to do, i could never buy a new card for €500+ (my lady would kill me) but im not sure if GPU are damaged or worn out or something after the are used for mining. Could you help me? Where do i need to look out for etc?

If its under warranty then it wont matter you can RMA if it breaks, if its not under warranty then theres nothing you can do but hope

Slap a decent cooler on it as well, if it has been worn out by mining then keeping it as cool as possible will prolong its life.

The Raijintk Morpheus is probably the best one to get at the moment.

I personally would find out if he overclocked it first before buying it .
