Ok i've been pricing a PC up for more than a month now and now my money has fallen short slightly, and now im thinking that i would be better off saving myself £150 and getting a PS3!!! i really dont want to, but ive heard good things.

So would you get the PS3 orrrrr would you get the amd Phenom 2 x4 Black edition 3.00ghz with 790gx asus or biostar board and 2 gigs of ddr2 ram??

i already have the rest of the components, i am just not wanting to break the bank with this bi**h.

Are PS3 's that good or am i way better off with a new pc???

Thanks in advance.

PS: respect to those that have helped me in the past to pick the pieces which count to make this mother of a pc up.

Cheers lads.

personally owning both id go for a pc, although ps3 is good for pro evo and racing, fps and the competition on pc is second to none. just depends what you are going to be doin with each. Although u can surf the web on a ps3, is just not the same as a pc if u get me:wavey:

your gunna get biasted oppinions here as we all own pc's and we always put our pc's first, i do own a ps3, xbox tree60 and a pc and the best of them all is by far is a pc

Sorry you need to make up that decion your self.

Personly i own a couple of ps3's but they are good for Blue ray and for some gaming, how ever if its gaming your after a xbox 360 is better.

But as for any thing else then for get it. The PC can do far more and not only that is very good for interacting with communality and all so for content.

How ever you can load Linux on to a ps3 and install a much larger hard drive (like a 300 gig i have in one of mine) but in comparison id go pc all the way.

But the decision really at the end of the day is your own so no matter what we type i doubt very much if we could influence you in any way.

A step in the right direction would be to give us a budget and let us spec up the best rig possible for the price. The hardware you have mentioned can be surpassed in performance by gear of the same price ;)

Ok my budget is roughly £400 ish, i have a case an 8800gs a 500gig Hdd and an external 500 gig hdd, i have a case although its not very good, and a 400w psu (which i dont think is too good either but its served me right. I also have all the bare essentials like a wireless keyboard an mouse an all cables and dual monitors so realistically i would only need a cpu mobo and ram.

I was going to get a phenom 2 x4 3ghz black edition, and a decent 790gx, and a few sticks of ddr2.

I think it would have come to about £320 ish.

I won't be overclocking for the moment either so it would just be stock speed and i think the stock heatsink / fan would do the job.

I only started this thread because what i thought i had in this months pay, i didn't have the chance to spend it as it got swallowed by bills and such, so i thought, hey PS3 its only £250 and its top line gaming in HD?? i cant go wrong, but the research ive put into looking for the right pc for me would have been a waste of time, Ive had about 6 thread (ish) to ask people about the right pc, i just feel like i got let down financially, by no fault of my own really either.

I dunno, i think the ps3 and the pc have both got good selling points but for hardware and upgrading i hear you when you say the pc wins hands down, but for stability and for games like tekken and the like (which i miss a lot) its the Ps3 all day, but i really like playing things like cod4 and pro evo 9 with the new patches, and even downloading torrents too aww i dont know i think the pc is winning me over again, hell i might just get the pc and save up for a ps3 hopefully when the price goes down again.

grrr oh i don't know it is a pickle.

For 2 cents..

U have £400, and ur situation is going on and on. Buying the PS3 now will be a done job and u can use it whilst adding to the balance of the cash left over.

I 'assume' that u got 'a' pc that ur using, so hey u can do interweb stuff etc.

If not, u could have £150 left over, and with the partial bit of kit u have, not wanting to oc immediately, AND if ur not set on get AMD for any reason, u could possibly get the foundation of a decent pc and add to it as u go along.

- and what u gonna care - u got a PS3 already ;)

Thats a good point when you write it like that rasta.

Right im going to go with the ps3 an then buid on the amd rig as i go, cheers m8.

I'll let you know when im buying parts, who knows i might get a bigger bonus than i was expecting and just buy them both lol.

Thanks for the advice lads.

Spk soon.

If ur taking the slow-build route, be sure u get the foundation in place first - ur mobo is what everything is going to use to interact, and thus should not necessarily be the cheapest option u take.

Imo, if u even went the route of knowing u've initially blown all ur cash on a great mobo, but have to w8 even to buy a cpu - it'd be worth it perhaps.

Been thinking about this decision and I will go for the pc build as the amount of things you can do on a pc is just unparalleled so i will get myself a new rig.

Mobo cpu and ram to go with what ive already got.

spk soon when i get the lot.
