Good Books for Network Security

Hey Community!!!

So i plan on doing CISCO tests later in life to do with Network Security, i already have a basic CISCO IT qualification.
But i am fairly new to Network Security, so any good books that are worth a purchase? id say my level is basic bordering intermediate skill.

Ive had a look at the Network Security for dummies and that looks good also Hacking Exposed ed7.

Ideas people???

Idk about books... but just playing around with backtrack you can learn alot...

I have backtrack on my PC atm, just need to be put on a disk, i has no idea what am doing with it lol

just dig around with \help and learn all the functions it shows. the rest came naturally for me.

Basically this is a website of my professor. We used materials from this website during the security and forensics course in uni. The guy who teaches it (Bill Buchanan) he is one of the greatest experts in security in UK. He also have software that can be used for learning but to be honest with you I've never needed it. If you are interested in network security only, than CCNA Security is the only thing you need... And if your appetite for knowledge grows bigger, there is always CCNP Security, etc...

I have finished cisco ccna discovery(lvl1) course last year, honestly if you know about things like ip packets, how to setup dmz aswell as all other basic setting on a cisco router then it is a piece of cake.

the course consisted of 10 units, 10th being final. First few are super simple like diffrences between routers and switches, what ports are what, also how are the batch rj45's made(practical ).

if you have a good knowledge in IT then cisco networking will come along easily.

one software you will use quite often is cisco packet tracer, its a program you can setup virtual networks. if you are going on cisco networking course you might want to have a look at it

here is a list of the untits, but i cant seem to find the actual content pages, ill dig around cisco academy and see if i can find it for you


EDIT: I still have access to all of the content required to finish the course but due to the fact that you have to be enrolled on the course to view them i cant just link it and since it is copyrighted i cant just screen cap it all(at least 100 pages if not more).
