hey guys, i am new to the forum. I bought a gigabyte HD 6950 1GB OC edition GFX card 3 weeks ago.I am currently playing witcher 2 .I thought that my card is good enough to pull up at least 30 fps avg throughout this game but i am only getting an avg of 22/23 fps. I am playing the game at 1360*768 resolution in default high settings. The game auto detected the high settings . I am using 2*2 GB DDR2 ram on windows 7 32 bit. When I tried to improve my fps by tweaking different settings like I disabled motion blur, blur effect, ssao, vertical sync, cinematic depth of field and of course the ubersampling keeping the other settings to default high. BTW the fps is still the same!!!??? I am not getting it..plz give me some help.

yeah, in ccc everything is down. But the problem still exists...is it the reason that i'm using a 32 bit os so i'm getting only 3.25 GB of RAM ?

at last, the simple solution. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. Installed patches 1.1 n 1.2. Now i'm getting an avg of at least 42/43 fps throughout the game except for few places. So i guess the patches were not installed properly....how silly of me

Still seems a little low for a 6950, my 5850 gets an average of roughly 47/48! hmm does the 5850 beat it in this game?

I have 5850 Crossfire, and get 30-40 FPS max, except in cutscenes and climbing/opening doors animations :/ In cutscenes and animations I get STABLE 60FPS on pretty much any setting..

I installed the newest CAP, and the 11.5b Hotfix to enable crossfire for Witcher 2, both cards have high activity percent (don't remember the exact number).. Also turned all graphics down, and still same weird FPS lag..

Not really asking for a fix, but just pointing out this game seems to have some glitches with performance. I recommend people googling it and look for fixes

Yeah this game is very poorly optimised for multi GPU setups

It's poorly optimised for everything.

I bought this when it came out, installed its 15gb fat backside onto my PC with an I7 950 and 470 @ 755mhz and enabled FSAA and got a slide show.

It's a complete mess. A pretty one, but a mess none the less. I will wait for a patch but I think it will need more of a miracle.

can 64 bit win 7 help me get bit more fps?..coz I have 4GB ram on 32 bit. I have read that more RAM does't help getting more fps unless it is less than recommended n in this game 4GB is recommended. so 64bit may help out, is't it??

You may as well always install 64-bit over 32-bit, there are very few compatibility issues nowadays, even a 64-bit Flash Player beta is out.

RAM very rarely makes much of a difference, and Windows will dynamically change how much RAM it uses according to how much you have installed. Try using a monitoring software to check RAM usage history, or even ctrl-alt-delete in the middle of the game to check how much RAM is being used.
