Gigabyte GTX 670 OC

Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to flash my Gigabyte GTX 670 OC to an EVGA GTX 670 FTW bios? They're both using a GTX680 PCB. The only difference is my Gigabyte has an 8+6 pin and the EVGA only has 6+6. Can any of you modders out there shed some light on this? Thanks!
 
The Evga FTW card is capable of reaching much higher overclocks, so from what I've heard if I flash my Gigabyte card to the same BIOS, those overclocks would be attainable?

Dude it's a 670... At stock clocks it's already a bloody amazing card. On top of that you can overclock it as it is. Whether that's more or less than a different Bios i hardly doubt you'll notice much difference unless you're a benchmarking enthusiast.

Instead just think "I currently have one of the best GPUs on the market, why am I rushing into obsessively overclocking it" Just overclock as much as you can and stick with it

Well I wouldn't call myself a benchmarking enthusiast, but I really want to break P10000 in 3DMark 11. Sounds silly I know, But the max I can score it seems it P9650-9700 and I've seen almost every EVGA 670 FTW with lesser CPU's break 10K.

Like I said, it's silly but it's just kind of a personal achievement I want to reach, and it would give me about 3-4fps more in BF3, and any more performance is certainly welcome in Metro!

Where did you hear that? I'm sure it could be done, but I can't help I'm afraid :(
 
haha yeah i think 7970 crossfire is one of the only set ups that do over 60 all the time.
Anyway back to topic. Mate if you're adamant to have those extra fps then buy the evga and sell me your current 670 for cheap otherwise enjoy you're lavely card :p
 
Stupid questions require simple answers... Buy an EVGA 670 FTW!

Lol. Right. How is this a stupid question? The EVGA card is $50 more expensive and has a reference cooler so it's loud as hell. If it's possible to flash the Gigabyte to the EVGA Bios, that would be the more viable option...
 
Flashing a BIOS wont determine how far the overclock will go, its down to the silicon in the chip... right?! It may effect performance, but I'd have though that it will be minute. If you are so bothered about it, you can get the EVGA card, overclock it, they overclock well, or just stick with the Gigabyte card which is a sound card as it is, I see you have a 2600K and only have it 4.4, OC that too, you'll see an increase too. Its a dumb question. EVGA cards are more expensive, because they offer a beast warranty and a step up program, its not rocket science.

Actually I just have a bad chip. my 2600k need 1.3V to get 4.4 but 4.5 and above I need insane amounts of volts. 1.38V and upwards and I can't seem to get it stable. So 4.4 seems to be the sweet spot for me. And the EVGA Bios allows you to increase the vcore, the gigabyte doesn't. Making higher overclocks attainable.
