Ghetto mods

I know quite a few people have suggested this recently, and i think a ghetto mods section would be great. Ham could fill a whole page of threads with his computer mods :rotfl:

Plus once all my new stuff arives im gonna be building my own water cooling from stuff you can buy at B+Q / garden centers and would be happy to write a rather in-depth guide to it. And the simpler things like fan mods and case cutting

I used to do that, but I just ended up with cables that wouldn't bend properly . I used to have the ultimate ghetto water cooling, the rad was from a Metro GTi .

Check this:

This was a floppy drive that I took apart!

Problem: Pump didn't really have anywhere to sit

Solution: Take the floppy drive and 3 1/4" to 5 1/2" converter....rip apart the whole floppy drive...screw in the pump

Ill be using:

resevour: large copper box from old fashioned boiler

pump: aquarium pump from old fishtank

radiator: butchered car radiator

tubing: hose from garden center

I think i might make my own CPU block aswell, by encasing a copper HS with perspex and silicone

however i will probably have to fork out for VGA blocks, any suggestions?

@Kempz (as hes a mod) do you think it would be possible to make a section for this then?

Ohhh... I dunno, I doubt it We can just post that stuff in the general hardware section mefinks. I doubt it would ever get used enough to need its own forum or subforum.

Agreed general hardware is the best thing...we need a balance between specific forums and not enough

i wish i took some pictures of my old celly rig fan setup.

i had a 120mm fan, hooked up to a switch to turn it on/off, but it wasnt grounded, and the same line powered everything in my comp. the wires werent soldered, they were just spliced and stuck with leccy tape, and i sometimes had to turn the comp on its side so the fan wd work. its not surprising the psu blew eventually.
