GFX upgrade advice.

I'd perhaps whange vendor for the 280X though, the other manufacturers seem to have quieter coolers ATM.
Yeah, its just that is the cheapest 280x (bar XFX, but we don't talk about them ;) ) and that gives him more breathing space for a case change. I'd go fr the toxic 280x if he can find any in stock...

Agreed, i don't trust XFX anymore, my old HD 7950 had thermal tape missing from 3 ram chips which caused the fan profiles to be much faster than they should have been and occasional crashing (not enought for me even to think anything was wrong but it happened, only happened after over an hour of playing Crysis 3).

When I finally sold that card i replaced all the thermal pads, including the missing ones. Now it's working great for in my friends rig but my trust is shaken in XFX.

Powercolor is a good brand, my two hd 7870XT cards are VTX3D, which are made by the same company (powercolor, club3d and VTX3D are all owned by the same company).

Barnsley does make a good point though, if you want a case change you could save money buying the powercolor card with no real performance drop compared to other manufacturer (apart from small stock overclocks of course).

Can't go wrong with any 280x tbh. All are aftermarket coolers.

I can however from first hand expierence say that the Asus DCU2 is super quiet and stays cool as well.
