Getting RAM to rated specs

My OCZ ReaperX 4gb kit (pc2-8000/1000mhz) is showing up in CPUz as pc2-6400.

Due to researching I am led to believe I have to kind of 'up' it to the rated speed myself (wth doesnt it do it as default?)

How will I have to do this? From timings, to FSB. Want to start clocking my e6300 as soon as iv sorted this pita

Danke

Just change all the settings to what they should be.. Custom timings and so on.

Might have to change the ratio between the FSB and Ram.

Just like if you were going to overclock.

Just do it in the BIOS :)

Setting up timings is simple and the RAM speed can be gauged by the FSB/RAM divider (or if your lucky the BIOS will have the speed option saying PC-8000)

Make sure you have the right voltage set before saving tho :) have seen so many people try to up the speed on the default RAM voltage and then have to reset the BIOS :D

well i set timings myself to 5-5-5-18. volts to 2.10. which default bootstrap will i need to start at? do i need to change anything apart from timings?

i used to do 533 strap for my other ram. rig is in sig.

edit: DDR2-800 strap on default speeds with the FSB set to 333 shud work according to ocz forums...

If you can, just unlink the memory in the BIOS and set it to 1000Mhz.

We've been playing with this RAM in the P5N-T Deluxe and new EVGA 780i boards and, after some fiddling with the overclock, have got it running sweet now at 3Ghz (Q6600) - just unlink the FSB/Memory if your mobo allows it. :)
