Games for linux

I finally made the switch from windows to ubuntu 6.06 (dapper) a couple of weeks ago. I've not got around to any gaming. just wondered if you could get things like cod2 for linux or maybe UT series?

Anyone have any ideas?

Rgr that, I think UT2004 is the only game that actually has a native installer for Linux. Other games I've seen or played on a Linux box are Doom 3, Globulation 2, Postal 2, Quake 4, Liquid War, Tribes Vengeance, and BZFlag.

Games under cedega: Red Faction and Red Faction 2, GTA 3, Vice city, and San Andreas, Need for Speed Underground and Most Wanted. As Frag said most can be played under emulators

Nope u cant, coz it emulates ur graphics card as a basic SIS 4mb card afaik.

ya true no 3d stuff would not work very well bout doubtful it will run slow nick probly faster then true windows being linux is so much faster.

Actually Linux is slower than Windows, but much more powerful :)

depends on what your running like linux manages the cpu power better then windows if you ran boinc or folding on linux then windows you would probly get more done on linux.

Exactly, that would mean its more powerful, but its certainly not a faster environment.

thanks for the info guys. I've actually read that some win games running with wine run 15fps quicker than on actual windows.
