Gadgets gone in Windows 7?

So during one of my overclocking attempts using Biostar's crap Windows OC software utility my machine crashed and when Windows came back up my desktop gadgets were gone. I have tried right clicking the desktop and starting them that way, and also through the control panel.

Whatever I do they don't come back up. Anyone else??

Did you disable UAC by any chance? Gadgets won't run in 7 with UAC disabled as an extra security measure.

If you did disable UAC, and you want to enable gadgets again, in registry editor, go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Sidebar\Settings

And change "AllowElevatedProcess" to 1

Hm, k, you'll need to create it then.

When inside that directory in the registry editor, right click the blank space and select New > DWORD (32-Bit) value. Call it "AllowElevatedProcess" and set it to 1.

Might need to reboot after setting it.
